Julep Maven Plié Wand Reveal and Promo Code

Julep has been hinting at this new product they've been working on called the Plié Wand, and they're asking for preorders to crowd-fund their new product. They are going to have enough for all their Julep Maven's, but they want to be able to make enough to have for as many women who paint their nails as they can.

The wand will magnetically attach to any Julep polish with their new polish caps that can be used with any polish. You will eventually be able to purchase additional Plié compatible caps and starting in May, all new colors will come with them. They'll also be offering these nail art dotting tool, and stripping brush.

The wand itself is bendable, and as Jane said in the video, you can use it like a pen in your dominant hand, and bend it for more stability in your non-dominant hand.

The new Plié caps are compatible with all Julep polishes, and they're magnetic to attach to the wand. The side effect of this is the polishes will be able to magnetically attach to a metal surface for display! I don't know how easy it would be to knock these off, but it might be an interesting way to store your polishes if the magnet is fairly strong.

They have several different levels of pledging, the very basic being for all existing Julep Maven's to pay the regular $20 to reserve their May box, which will get you 1 Plié Wand, 1 extra Plié cap, and 2 nail polish colors with the new Plié caps (as part of your regular monthly box). This is the only option that will allow Julep Maven's to prepay for their May Maven box, and the dotting tool and stripping brush will be available in May as add ons to the Maven box.

I think I'll definitely be doing the $20 Maven pledge, since I was already planning on getting the box, and it will reserve my Plié Wand. I am fairly proficient painting both my dominant and non-dominant hands, but I am very interested in getting the dotting tool and the stripping brush. I will definitely be adding those on to my May Julep Maven box.

*EDIT*: I've already changed my mind, I'll get the wand in May either way if I get my box, so I've decided they can have my money in May. I've also stopped pledging to Kickstarters except for people I know, so I'll skip their crowd funding campaign.

I do find it a little money-grubbing that they changed the cap design for the wand, making it so you either wash and dry the Plié Wand caps you'll get, or plunk down however much they're going to charge to change your existing Julep caps. I just bought a bunch of "Swatch Me" stickers, so those are useless with the new caps. I don't really want the hole in all my polish caps, so I think I'd rather stick with the "Swatch Me" stickers, and wash and dry the extra Plié cap I'll be getting. However, all caps going forward from May will be the new round design with the hole in the top to attach the wand. Seems like they should have found a way to design the wand around the existing cap design instead of changing it to make a round cap on a square bottle.

*EDIT*: On Facebook, Julep has said that they are working on a plan to get some of the new Plié caps available to existing Julep Maven's for free. No proper details on this until closer to May, but will be nice to have a bunch, even if I don't plan on putting them on my bottles.

Updated 4/21: New Julep Mavens can customize their box as much (or as little) as they like. Sign up for 1 month and pay $24.99/month, or sign up for 3 months and pay only $19.99/month! Take the style quiz and enter FREEBOX at checkout to get your first box free, just pay $2.99 for shipping!

What do you think of the Plié Wand? Did you preorder one? What do you think of the Plié Wand being crowd-funded? Let me know in the comments!
