Indie Weekends: Life's Entropy Galaxy Glow Illuminators Review

It's been a while since Life's Entropy introduced a new kind of product, but the new Galaxy Glow Illuminators just came out and I had to review them! They are like liquid/cream highlighters, and there are 8 total shades. Currently, samples are out of stock, but full size bottles are still available.

AboutLife's Entropy is a fairly new indie brand, owned by Jane, and located in New York. They specialize in eyeshadows, lip tar-like products, contour and other face products. Jane also frequently likes to create dupes of other big brand products colors and formulas.

Indies of the Week: AFK Cosmetics Mawwage Highlighter + Life's Entropy Crystal Violet Lip Theory Review

In a concerted effort to review more of my indie products, I'm starting a new blog series on Fridays called Indies of the Week! I'll review two or three random products from my stash that didn't make it into full reviews. Things like free samples, gifts, random perfumes, etc. Hopefully, it will give me a chance to review things that I wouldn't have normally because I didn't have other things from the collection, or it just didn't make it into a review. I'm going to try to keep this to products still available for purchase, but some things might inevitably be discontinued or no longer for purchase. Welcome to the first of many Indies of the Week posts, let's get started with AFK Cosmetics Mawwage highlighter and Life's Entropy Crystal Violet Lip Theory!

On a whim, I decided I wanted to try the AFK Cosmetics Mawwage highlighter, so I ordered a full size jar before they disappeared from the shop. This is one of the unfortunately discontinued products, and no longer available for purchase. (It's been brought back as a permanent product!) This product was from the limited Inconceivable Collection, which was inspired by The Princess Bride! Currently, the shop is closed, but reopens tomorrow.

The Life's Entropy Crystal Violet Lip Theory is something I received as a gift, and have not had a chance to review on it's own. I haven't tried many of the Lip Theories either, even though they have been on my list for a while. They are frequently compared to OCC Lip Tars mostly because they can be easily mixed to make your own shades.

January 2015 Favorites

I finally got to my January Favorites post! It was delayed a little because I wanted to film it as a YouTube video, which I've linked below, but then I went back and forth about whether or not to do a blog post too. I came to the conclusion that I should for anyone who doesn't like videos, and prefers a blog post format. Plus, you can get the close up photos for the products, and better formatted links for everything!

Indie Weekends: Life's Entropy Cosmos Lipstick Collection Review

Life's Entropy had a Black Friday sale with some brand new products and collections. I couldn't pass up the Cosmos limited edition Lip Theory Satin Lipsticks collection, and I wanted to try one of her new Brow Theory Pomades. I purchased enough to get the limited gift with purchase Chaos mini Lip Theory for purchases $35+. I spent the last week testing out all of the products to review for you!

Indie Subscription: Hello Waffle November 2014 Visage Review

Because indie subscriptions are getting more and more prevalent lately, I've made the executive decision to move the reviews for them to the weekdays. It may change when they are posted based on when they arrive, when I have a chance to swatch them, etc., but for now I'm aiming for Tuesdays/Thursdays. I will soon be subscribed to 5 indie subs a month, so moving them to the weekdays, will leave plenty of time for the regular indie reviews to stay on the weekends. And more time for me to get through some of my backlog!

It's always awesome when a great indie company offers a monthly subscription box, because they're always fun and totally worth the value. Last month, Hello Waffle Cosmetics opened up the Visage subscription, which is a box of items for your whole face, including lips, eyes, and cheeks. It's $25/month, shipping is included, and comes with full size and mini products.

Hello Waffle is another indie cosmetics company specializing in beautiful eyeshadow collections, blushes, made by Christine, the owner. Hello Waffle is based in Canada, and currently has collections inspired by Fringe, famous musical composers, cats/literature, and a collection celebrating reaching 1000 Facebook likes. She also offers seasonal collections that can be purchased in the season they are inspired by.

Last month's Visage also included a product from Life's Entropy, which is also a newer indie brand who specializes in lip tar-like Lip Theories, eyeshadow, and other face products.

Warning! Extremely picture heavy post!

Indie Weekends: The Great Indie Potluck Package of Pretties Reveal

This is a very special edition of Indie Weekends, as I received a jam-packed package of indie pretties in the mail, and I'm here to reveal everything I received! I will do swatches and a full review of everything hopefully by next weekend. Let me give you a little back story about this. A few of the indie cosmetics enthusiasts over on Makeuptalk and I, got together and decided to do an Indie Potluck, specifically The Great Indie Potluck!
Our Facebook group banner I made :)
Basically the rules were to spend $5-6/person on indie products, send them to the designated coordinator, coordinator packaged them all up for everyone, and sent them out to us. For instance, there were 9 of us, I contributed my products, and bought 8 of an item I already had, and 9 of other items I didn't already have. It didn't have to be one item for $5-6 either, it was just total. I think a lot of us used that as a way to maximize the awesome! It was free range for what you wanted to buy, but we told our coordinator before we purchased it, just to make sure we weren't all buying the same thing, and we made a Google doc before hand of the products we already had, so that everyone could buy new products for everyone. We decided the rules as we went, and just communicated with each other in our Facebook group we made. It was also decided that any samples that came with the purchase someone made, would go back to that same person.

It took a little longer than expected to purchase everything and receive it all, but I think it was worth the wait! We were missing one of our group members items, because of some unforeseen circumstances, but hopefully I can just include them in the swatch and review post. Our coordinator was awesome enough to send us our packages 2-day Priority, and we just Paypaled her our packages shipping cost. It just arrived yesterday, and I am ecstatic! Buckle in, this will be a long post!
