June 2015 Empties

I didn't have quite as many empties this month, but I made a little dent in my stash! And it's actually getting to the point where I may need to buy shampoo soon, I am almost completely out! And it's looking like I may finish a couple full size skincare items in July, so I am looking forward to seeing what else I can finish up.

June 2015 Favorites

I actually had a hard time this month narrowing down my favorites as there was a lot I really liked. I think the most difficult is picking one of my indie subscriptions, as they've all been really great lately. But there were a few new brands this month with some of my favorite products, and I think a good variety!

Fortune Cookie Soap May the 4th Be With You Mini Collection Review

Fortune Cookie Soap recently, or I guess not so recently since it's been a month, offered a Star Wars inspired mini collection. I thought all of the scents sounded pretty good, so I had to get the entire set! I won't pretend that I am a huge Star Wars fan, I didn't grow up with it, so it doesn't hold a special place in my heart like it does for others, but I can appreciate it for being so well loved by many. And I figured anything that didn't work for me would make a great gift. Unfortunately, this set is no longer available.

AboutFortune Cookie Soap is a bath and body shop, owned by Shannon and Justin, a wife and husband duo. They've done quite a bit of expanding in the past year, and have a quarterly subscription box, quarterly seasonal releases, quite a few limited edition collections, and they also have a Create Your Own, where you get to decide on the scent for products. They specialize in their namesake product, the fortune cookie soap, as well as, bath bombs, body butter, scrubs, hair oils, wax tarts, and all kinds of other bath and body products.

March, April, and May Empties

I was doing my empties on my YouTube channel, but lately I just haven't had time to film. We'll see how that goes, but to catch up, I have my March, April, and May empties! There wasn't a whole lot for May, but there were a couple things I don't have photos of because I finished them over at B's. But I'd say for three months, it was quite a lot of stuff I finished up!

Fortune Cookie Soap Summer 2015 Straight On Till Morning Soap Box Review

I just got my Summer Fortune Cookie Soap box! After seeing some of the sneak peeks and spoilers, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this box. I was never really big into Peter Pan, which is what this box is inspired by, but I always loved Tinkerbell because I have a thing for fairies. And there were two new products for Fortune Cookie Soap, which is always fun to try!

Fortune Cookie Soap Wonderland Collection Review

I ordered a few things from the Fortune Cookie Soap Wonderland Collection release, and wanted to do a quick review of them! I was trying to be good, so I only ordered most of the scents as perfumes, and a couple shower steamers. But it was a great chance to really get a feel for the notes in the scents!

February 2015 Favorites

Here are my February Favorites! There's really no method to this madness, I usually just try to pick about 9 products each month that I really loved, or found myself grabbing for more than other products, or something in my collection I rediscovered. Usually I try to go for products in a few different categories, but the favorites don't always land that way.

Fortune Cookie Soap Spring 2015 Wonderland Soap Box Review

My Spring Wonderland Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box finally arrived! I watched a few unboxing videos for this box already, and after hearing what others thought about the scents, I had the feeling that I would love everything! Even when I cut open the tape of the box, the combined smell of everything smelled so delicious and spring-like! This is my first Fortune Cookie Soap spring box, and I remember liking some of the spring scents from last year, and wishing I hadn't missed out on them. But this year's collection might be even better!

Fortune Cookie Soap Winter Has Come Collection Review

I haven't been buying as much Fortune Cookie Soap as I used to, but that's because I've discovered all kinds of other indie shops. But I just could not resist getting the entire Winter Has Come Collection, because I love Game of Thrones! I was under the assumption they were never going to do a Game of Thrones collection, but I guess they finally watched the show, and came up with this giant behemoth collection, of 18 products. If you ordered the whole set, it came with a special bonus Oathkeeper bath fizzy.

Fortune Cookie Soap Winter 2014 Old Fashioned Family Christmas Soap Box Review

My Fortune Cookie Soap Winter Soap Box finally made it! I was so eager to get this finally, and start smelling everything! My Winter box came really early compared to the Fall box, so I was pretty excited. They did a similar thing to the Fall box where they had 4 possible Whipped Cream scents you could possibly get, and already I think I like this box much better than the Fall box!

The Fortune Cookie Soap box is a quarterly subscription that is seasonal. So you subscribe, the box arrives right before the season it's for starts officially, then in about two weeks after the box arrives, they put the new collection of scents from the box on their website for everyone to purchase. Getting the box gives you a sneak peek of everything before anyone else can buy the products! The scents and products for the season are available for about three months, then they're replaced with the next season's offerings.

The Winter Fortune Cookie Soap box shipped via USPS and was delivered in 2 days from Oklahoma to California.

Indie Halloween Week: Fortune Cookie Soap Third Time's The Charm Halloween Collection Review

Boo! Happy Indie Halloween Week! If you've been reading my blog, you know I've latched myself onto indie companies for most of my beauty purchases. And they all seem to love Halloween, so I accumulated so many Halloween collections and things to review, the only way I could get through it all before Halloween was to bring you a week of indie Halloween reviews! I know, it's just tragic isn't it? Anyhow, I thought we'd kick off the week with something small to get us started, shall we?

Fortune Cookie Soap occasionally does some one-off collections around certain holidays and such, and they did a Beetlejuice inspired Third Time's The Charm collection for Halloween! I will admit, I don't go hog-wild for Halloween, it's not my favorite holiday (if we can't be friends now, I'm sorry, I'm learning to love it I swear!), but Beetlejuice is a great movie so I figured I should pick up a few items to try from the collection! I also grabbed a few of the Witch Please collection stuff that was sold out before. I didn't get everything as there were certain products and scents I knew I wouldn't care for, so I skipped them. And there are some I'm now kicking myself for not getting, but if it were up to me, every scent would just be available as a perfume.

Shipping - When I ordered, Fortune Cookie Soap's turnaround time was at 7 business days. My order shipped after 8 business days, via USPS 2-Day Priority, and arrived 2 days later.

Fortune Cookie Soap Fall 2014 Witch Please Collection Review

Fortune Cookie Soap is one of those companies that used to be indie, but isn't really anymore, it's kind of a gray area. And since I have so many other things planned for Indie Weekends, I'm going to post this little Fortune Cookie Soap haul, from the Fall Launch, during the week! It's my blog, I do what I want! Anyways, so every season FCS does a subscription box, and it's a sneak peek of what's to come in that season's collection. The products, the scents, it's a way to see what's coming soon. And since you also get a $10 off coupon with the Fortune Cookie Soap box, I used mine to get a few things from the Fall Launch!

I will admit, Fortune Cookie Soap is going through some growing pains. They've grown enormously in the past year, and they moved warehouses right after this collection launched on their site. It caused some shipping delays, some packing errors, and leaking products. They're trying to get this all straightened out, but I will mention, this is the second time one of my products has leaked and gotten all over the labels. And since the labels are not waterproof, the colors run. My box was smooshed because there was tissue paper at the bottom, so there was nothing to go against when it crunched. I'm hoping they get this all straightened out, because I order bath and body stuff from indie companies, and everything is in perfect condition.

Fortune Cookie Soap has a flat rate shipping price of $6.75, which is a bit steep, but it's shipped 2-day Priority, and they do not combine shipping. Meaning if you place several orders with a new release, you're paying $13+ for two or more orders to be shipped. I get why they do it, but it would save them money and us money to be shipped together. I made 2 orders the first day of the launch, and they shipped 7 and 10 business days later, via USPS Priority 2-day arriving 2 days later from Oklahoma to California.

September Favorites

I'm really excited about these products for my September favorites...like really excited. When life's got me down, I try to think about how happy these little things can make me. Sometimes the little things can be a saving grace, and I'm definitely feeling that way today. Just looking at this photo makes me happy, and when it's one of those days where everything seems to go wrong, I know I try to find solace in some of my favorite things. Whether it be a tiny vial of perfume, a glittery eyeshadow, or just a yummy scented product, this is my little reminder to try to find joy and happiness in the little things.

Now to be less depressing, how is September already over!? I swear it just started! I received lots of happy packages this month, and discovered some new gems. And some of my favorites were rediscovered as I already had them in my stash. I also included a bonus favorite!

August Favorites

August was an interesting month for favorites, as many of mine weren't just one single product, but groups of them. And one group of products that I don't actually own, but am wanting so badly! Let's dig into the awesome stuff I've been loving for August!

My Fortune Cookie Soap Fall Soap Box finally made it! I was so eager to get this finally, and start smelling everything! The Fortune Cookie Soap box is a quarterly subscription that is seasonal. The box is shipped via USPS First Class, and I never got tracking for mine, it just showed up. But I think it only took 2-3 days from Oklahoma to California, just based on when they said they shipped most of the boxes.

Blog and Personal Update: July 25th

This is going to be both a blog and a personal update on a few things, where do I even start? Well, let's sandwich the bad stuff with fun and exciting stuff shall we?

Secret Project!: I'm still not ready to reveal what it is I'm working on, but it's coming along! Some things are working out great, some are lessons in having things not work out the way you expected! But, overall I'm having a lot of fun with it, and working on it everyday. I'm hoping to be able to announce this sometime in August, and the very latest September. But ultimately, I'm super excited about it, and I can't wait to finally be able to share it with you!

June Favorites

This is a little (ok, a lot) late, but I still wanted to give you my June favorites! Not as many beauty products this month, but July will have some more I can already tell! And my current favorite book and TV show!

Blog Update June 24th Secret Project!?

Usually I've been doing these blog updates at the beginning of the month, and I've already done one for June, but I have some pressing updates I didn't want to wait until the end of the month for. You may have noticed the reviews have ramped down in frequency recently, and posts in general. It's all for mainly one big reason, but has two effects. So are you ready?

Fortune Cookie Soap Create Your Own Whipped Cream!

If you haven't heard of Fortune Cookie Soap, they are an online soap, bath and body retailer with all kinds of great products, their signature item being their fortune cookie soap! They have tons of nerdy fandom inspired scents, and right now they are offering their Create Your Own Whipped Cream for 48 hours!

They have tons of scents to chose from and you can mix and match up to three scents/blends, including blends from their museum (these can no longer be purchased, but you can now get them as a Whipped Cream), and tell them how much of each scent you want in your creation, and even give it a name that they will write on the label! If you've ever wanted to be a bath and body mad scientist, now's your chance!

Fortune Cookie Soap has stated that this will not sell out early, so you have the full time to think about your creation and order!

I've been eyeing Fortune Cookie Soap for a while, and I've always wanted to try their Soap Box subscription box that arrives quarterly, or every three months. Well, I decided to order this Tree of Life gift set to get familiar with some of their products and see how I felt about this scent!
