Fortune Cookie Soap Fall 2014 Witch Please Collection Review

Fortune Cookie Soap is one of those companies that used to be indie, but isn't really anymore, it's kind of a gray area. And since I have so many other things planned for Indie Weekends, I'm going to post this little Fortune Cookie Soap haul, from the Fall Launch, during the week! It's my blog, I do what I want! Anyways, so every season FCS does a subscription box, and it's a sneak peek of what's to come in that season's collection. The products, the scents, it's a way to see what's coming soon. And since you also get a $10 off coupon with the Fortune Cookie Soap box, I used mine to get a few things from the Fall Launch!

I will admit, Fortune Cookie Soap is going through some growing pains. They've grown enormously in the past year, and they moved warehouses right after this collection launched on their site. It caused some shipping delays, some packing errors, and leaking products. They're trying to get this all straightened out, but I will mention, this is the second time one of my products has leaked and gotten all over the labels. And since the labels are not waterproof, the colors run. My box was smooshed because there was tissue paper at the bottom, so there was nothing to go against when it crunched. I'm hoping they get this all straightened out, because I order bath and body stuff from indie companies, and everything is in perfect condition.

Fortune Cookie Soap has a flat rate shipping price of $6.75, which is a bit steep, but it's shipped 2-day Priority, and they do not combine shipping. Meaning if you place several orders with a new release, you're paying $13+ for two or more orders to be shipped. I get why they do it, but it would save them money and us money to be shipped together. I made 2 orders the first day of the launch, and they shipped 7 and 10 business days later, via USPS Priority 2-day arriving 2 days later from Oklahoma to California.

Here is almost everything I bought, there were a few other things that were not Fall related, so I'm leaving them out. Mostly some more OCD Hand Sanitizer scents. And even though the dry shampoo scent I got was not from the Fall Witch, Please Collection, it is Fall scented, so I included it. I did also recently order some more The Shiz Perfume and the Fortune Cookie Soap in the same scent, but they haven't shipped yet. I'll hopefully review those with my Halloween Collection haul, not really a haul though, I didn't order much.

There's another small thing that bothers me about some FCS products, some have glitter in them. I recently emailed them and asked if they could add a note to the products with glitter saying they had them in it on their website, and they took my suggestion and added that! So now you can see at a glance if a particular product has glitter in it, and luckily none of the products I bought had glitter! Did I mention I don't like glitter in my bath and body products? Eyeshadow only please, and even then I'm iffy on it.

Swankified Foaming Hand Soap - "Bunches of ripe bananas mashed into sweet, sugary cake batter, then topped with walnuts and baked to a golden brown."

This is the one product in my order that leaked, and I don't really remember why I bought so many products in this scent, but it mostly smells like the cake batter and bananas. I don't care much for bar soap, and I was running low on my foaming soap stash, so I figured I would grab some of these. The pump is nice, it has the locking mechanism on it, so they are relatively easy to transport, and switch in and out.

There's No Place Like Home Foaming Hand Soap - "Curled Macintosh apple peels lovingly kissed with a hint of cinnamon, allspice and clove."

This is one of my favorite scents from the collection, it goes well in just about every product they offer it in, but it smells like apples and cinnamon. It's like fresh red apples, and I'm so glad I bought a bunch of products in this scent. Especially as a hand soap, this scent is perfect for it.

There's No Place Like Home Leave In Conditioner - "Curled Macintosh apple peels lovingly kissed with a hint of cinnamon, allspice and clove."

This is a fairly new product for FCS, but it's quickly becoming my favorite. I always use a leave in conditioner or detangler right after showering on my damp hair, otherwise I can't get a comb through it. This product works so well, and I just love the apple scent. I highly recommend trying the leave in conditioner if you get a chance!

Zero Dry Shampoo - "Ghostly billows of sweet peppermint, with just the faintest whisper of pumpkin."

I love using dry shampoos as washing my hair every day is a lot of effort, and it's not good for your hair. This one works pretty well, and if you keep the closure at the top closed, the product will still come out, but the clumps won't. I already have a compulsive problem running my fingers through my scalp, I don't need clumps of dry shampoo in it to make it worse. It very faintly smells like peppermint, but you really can't smell it much once it's in your hair. The only downside, is that this won't travel well since the powder still comes out when the top is closed.

The Shiz Wax Tart - "A woodland hike through damp balsam woods, with top notes of maple leaves blowing through new dawn blossom, laurel and sweet clove."

This is my other favorite scent from the Fall collection, and I thought it would make the perfect room scent, since it's woodsy. But I have a confession. I don't actually own a tart warmer...I know. But I'm planning on getting one once I move, so I can burn these wax tarts. Or maybe I should just get one now.

Swankified Wax Tart - "Bunches of ripe bananas mashed into sweet, sugary cake batter, then topped with walnuts and baked to a golden brown."

Again, I don't really remember why I bought so many Swankified products, but I thought this would be great as a wax tart. Make the house smell like baked goods? Yes.

BFFs Wax Tart - "Sticky sugared blueberries and luscious baked pumpkin with all the fall spices atop a warm cake accord."

This was one of the few pumpkin scents I didn't get to try, and it's ok. I don't know that I love the combination of pumpkin and blueberries, but it is original. It will probably smell pretty good once it's burning.

There's No Place Like Home Wax Tart - "Curled Macintosh apple peels lovingly kissed with a hint of cinnamon, allspice and clove."

This one will be a perfect Fall home scent. The packaging on these though is a little cheap looking, and the plastic cracks after the wax has hardened in them. But they are going to just be thrown away after you take out the wax tart, so I guess it doesn't matter much.

Flying Monkeys OCD Hand Sanitizer - "A fruity, breezy blend of peach, watermelon, neroli and jasmine with air and aquatic notes. But the real star of this fragrance? Fresh, ripe bananas!"

I like the banana smell of this but something in this tickles my nose, and it's not just the alcohol.

Swankified OCD Hand Sanitizer - "Bunches of ripe bananas mashed into sweet, sugary cake batter, then topped with walnuts and baked to a golden brown."

I don't really care for this one, I should probably find someone else to take it.

Overall, I didn't care for a lot of the scents from the Fall collection, but I do absolutely love The Shiz and There's No Place Like Home. And I would also highly recommend the dry shampoo or Leave In Conditioner. And I really like that they now offer the foaming hand soap, since that is much more convenient for me than the bar or fortune cookie soap.
