SquareHue Amsterdam Collection 4.14 Review

SquareHue is a monthly nail polish subscription service that sends three full-size nail polish colors to you every month, that revolve around a theme. April's theme is The Passport Collection: Amsterdam. I signed up for this because there was a free box coupon, I just had to pay shipping. And I thought the Amsterdam collection would have some great colors, and I was right!

SquareHue is shipped USPS and this arrived in 3 days from Florida to California. One thing I do like is they always ship on the 1st of the month, so you get it within only a few days, and there aren't too many other subscriptions that arrive at the very beginning of the month.

The polishes are packed very nicely in a small box, with a nice presentation and info card with the collection name, colors, and some other info.

I really like the look of these square bottles, they're very visually appealing. And I like that the names are Dutch street names. Makes me want to go to Amsterdam.

Beethovenstraat - This is a lime green, not a chartreuse, it's definitely more green than yellow. This photo is pretty color accurate, and I think it's my least favorite color of the collection, but I still like it.

Kalverstraat - This one is my favorite, I don't know what happened, but I now have 3 colors very similar. I just got into a coral/red/pink mood in anticipation of summer I think. But even if I have 3 similar colors now, I still really love this color, and I think I'll be using this on my toes next, with a little flower using the other colors from this month.

P.C. Hooftstraat - This is a purple/blue duochrome, which is very pretty. I only have a few duochromes, but they are so cool looking, so I'm glad to have another. And actually now that I think about it, most of the ones I own are some shade of purple.

Here's the whole collection lined up, I really like the colors this month. I have heard some fair complaints about SquareHue, but I think this month they really redeemed themselves for many long time subscribers, and pulled in a lot of new subscribers.

I haven't quite decided if I'm going to continue to subscribe to SquareHue, because I already subscribe to Julep, and that's $20/month, and many times much more because I upgrade a lot. I've looked at a lot of past months of SquareHue colors, and I'm just not a big fan of a lot of them. They do a lot of green, a lot of pale colors, and even though they only do 3 colors a month, I've seen some almost duplicates in their colors.

SquareHue is $15 a month, plus $5 shipping. Many times they offer free box codes, and discount codes to try your first month at a discount. Right now, if you sign up for their email list, you get a code for 50% off your first month, so go try it out!

  1. I ordered after 4/01, so I don't think I will be getting this month's box. I'm really just getting it because it's a free box (use code CLUELESS this month) and I'll give it a try. I agree with you though... I will probably cancel because their colors are not that exciting to me.

    1. Yeah I just tried it because it was a free box for me too, you'll be getting May's box, which has a Rio theme! I've noticed from others photos that they seem to send chartreuse or green almost every month. I cancelled my subscription.
