Memebox Special #50 Step-By-Step Skincare Review

There is a dim light at the end of the crappy Memebox tunnel! I have my Special #50 Step-By-Step Skincare box to review, and overall it wasn't bad! This was actually one of the better recently shipped boxes, so I am happy I bought it. Everything in this box was meant to be a step by step guide to using Korean skincare products, so you can use everything as a routine.

This box was shipped Registered Mail and delivered via USPS in 12 days, from Korea to California.

Mizon Alcohol Toner Mojito - (150ml full size/$22)

Product description: "Fancy a bottle of mojito for your skin? This unique facial toner is formulated with all the ingredients found in a glass of mojito - lime, sugar cane, sparkling mineral water, apple, and peppermint leaf juice! The lime complex will prevent skin impurities from clogging up the pores and the mineral-rich components will refresh and deliver abundant nutrients to dry, tired skin."

How to use: "Apply to face with a cotton pad or with your hands. Use it right after cleansing as the very 1st step into skincare."

My thoughts: I have no idea why this product wasn't in the Apple Mojito box, but I think Memebox has proven that logic doesn't drive box curation any more. I am glad I got this product though, I have heard such great things about it, and I love toners. I just hope that because this one is called an "alcohol toner" that it's not too drying, as my face is already dry.

Insobeau Super Yellow Intense Renew Essence - (30ml full size/$78)

Product description: "An anti-aging facial essence made with a special idebenone formula for effectively treating fine lines and wrinkles as well as brightening up uneven and dulled complexion."

How to use: "After toner application, apply a dime-size amount of essence evenly over face and pat it in for full absorbance."

My thoughts: This seems like a high quality product, so I'm looking forward to using it. And I'm actually grateful that this is a small bottle, because the quicker I can get through products the better. I have so many of them, that it takes so long to get through big jars of creams, but little bottles like these will only take a month or so.

Magic Royal Jelly & Honey Energy Ampoule - (12ml full size/$30)

Product description: "A highly concentrated facial ampoule enriched with nutrition-rich royal jelly and royal honey extracts. It will soothe, moisturize, and strengthen skin's natural protective barrier."

How to use: "After essence application, apply a couple drops of ampoule evenly over face and pat it in for full absorbance."

My thoughts: This is another product I am happy is small, but I don't get why it's not full. Even in the info card photo the product is not full. Seems very strange to me, especially considering it's already a small product size. But, it's an ampoule, and I don't have very many of those. I'm looking forward to trying it, especially since honey seems to treat my skin nicely.

She's Uris Rice Water Double Action Wrinkle & Whitening Cream - (80g full size/$42)

Product description: "A moisturizing water-drop type facial cream. This Rice Water Double Action is a smart, multi-functional cream for hydrating, tone brightening, and wrinkle refining. Its formula includes rice bran water, adenosine, cacao extracts, and various herbal ingredients."

How to use: "Apply directly to face and pat it in for full absorbance."

My thoughts: I actually opened this and have been using it! I had another cream that I stopped using because it was summer, and it was a jar and I thought it was getting gross, so I opened this one! I like it, it has a pleasant smell, and has a texture between a serum and a heavy cream. It's kind of like a gel, but I've been using it, and my skin absorbs it really well, my face doesn't seem oily in the morning after I've used this the night before. I'm really enjoying this product, I just hope I can get through the whole jar before winter is over.

Tonymoly My Sunny Milky Sub Cream SPF35 PA+++ - (45g full size/$10)

Product description: "A mineral oil free sunscreen that works to color control uneven skin tone and to protect skin from UV exposure. It's extremely gentle and it leave skin silky soft and smooth, with a healthy glow."

How to use: "Apply directly to face at the very end of skincare routine."

My thoughts: I am very pale and am a big proponent of sunscreen. The only thing is, I don't actually go in the sun much, so I don't use a lot of it. Occasionally I go to a concert or festival or something in the summer, and I definitely put sunscreen on all over for that, but the rest of the year I spend most of my time indoors. I probably have enough sunscreen now to last me the next three years or whenever they all expire, so while this is handy, I wish it was something other than sunscreen.

Taphre Special Care Mask - (25ml full size/$7)

Product description: "Enriched with propolis extracts, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and various fruit & nut extracts, this Special Care Mask helps replenish, repair, protect and soothe skin against dehydration and aging, for a much softer and more luminous complexion. "

How to use: "Cleanse face and apply toner with a cotton pad. Unfold the mask and spread it evenly over face, aligning the eyes, nose, and mouth properly. Rest for 15-20 minutes, remove mask, and pat in the remaining essence for full absorbance."

My thoughts: I like masks, and I will always welcome more to my stash. I just don't get the photo on the package of the lady touching her hair? Makes it seem like it's a hair mask instead of a face mask.

Overall, the Special #50 Step-By-Step Skincare box had a total value of $189, which is astoundingly high! All of the products in this box are things I will use, so I am happy about that. And even though I won't get to use all the products together, I think this was a great box for beginners just getting into Korean skincare products. It gives you a full skincare routine and I think with the product sizes, you could actually finish them all near the same time. Just a well curated box that I'm happy I purchased!
