April 2016 Favorites

Hi guys, it's been a while! I have moved since my last post and have been very busy with my planner sticker Etsy shop, Whimsical Plans! I haven't stopped playing with makeup and indie makeup in the interim, and I've been wanting to come back and write some smaller review posts. I had a few favorites from April I also wanted to share, so here I am! I can't say if I will be posting regularly, or even irregularly, but I do want to try to post when the mood strikes. I have a different lighting set up, and I will preface this review by saying I am not going to be doing swatches. I know that sucks, but if I just don't have the time or the place to do swatches, so I am sorry. I have been really into perfume these past few months, so I have been thinking about doing some one-off indie perfume reviews. Let me know in the comments if that's something you'd like to see!

Here are my favorites for April, in no particular order!

Blackbird Cosmetics Matte Pressed Shadows - These were pretty much the only shadows I had when I first moved, as I ended up having to leave my entire makeup collection at my parent's house for about a month. I will admit, I got pretty sick of matte shadows by the end there, but these were such great staples to have in my arsenal. I have a few more since the last time I posted about them, including Whisper, Immortals, Fiction, and Dim Tradition.

Hello Waffle Ta Rose and Les Étoiles - These shadows are from the April 2016 Visage, which I am still subscribed to! I haven't been regularly wearing the shadows from the subscription, but I decided to wear these two on my birthday and loved the look! I put Ta Rose on the lid, and Les Étoiles in the crease for kind of a less dramatic version of a cut crease. It was really pretty, and I loved the look!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita - April was my birthday month, so I did treat myself to some new mainstream makeup. I've been wanting to pickup one of these Kat Von D liquid lipsticks for a while, and settled on the ever popular Lolita shade. It's not as light as other swatches made it look, it actually looks like a dark clay shade on. It's not quite what I hoped, but it's still very nice looking. And it stands up to drinking, eating, pretty much anything.

Hello Waffle Staircases - This lip color was from the 2015 Halloween collection, and as you can tell from the worn label, I've been wearing it a lot! It applies like a pink nude, but as it wears, it turns into a brighter pink shade. I love it because it seems to last almost all day, and it's a great shade for all occasions.

Arcana Two Finger Ballet - I finally got my hands on this perfume! I have been coveting it for a year, and Arcana recently brought it back for a limited time. There are some on her eBay shop currently, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you love sweet vanilla scents. It's described as "A delicate blend of French vanilla creme, white amber, sugared vanilla beans, caramel, and the smallest dab of opium." On me, it smells like warm caramel, vanilla, and like the smallest hint of something spicy, like cinnamon. That could be the opium, but it smells amazing. And it lasts almost all day on me. I have been absolutely loving Arcana perfumes lately, they're almost all I buy with the exception of Nocturne Alchemy. Those two brands seem to have the longest staying power on my skin.

Marc Jacobs Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - This is part of the free Sephora birthday set this year, it's a little mini Marc Jacobs lipstick, and the set also came with an eyeliner. The lipstick shade is similar to Staircases, but maybe a little bit of a brighter pink. I like little lipsticks like this for my purse, they are nice to have on the go.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Fair Neutral - When I ordered some new makeup from Sephora, I added this concealer in my cart. I have heard great things about the Urban Decay foundation line, and I wanted to see how this concealer worked. I've never really had a concealer I liked, but I absolutely love this one. It covers just about anything, and it works well for under eye circles too. I just use my Beauty Blender to dab it in.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in Shade 0.5 - I've always had trouble finding a foundation light enough for my skin tone, and this fits the bill. It's the perfect shade, and even though I still blend this into my neck and jawline, it matches so well I don't really need to. It covers pretty well, and I love that it has a pump. The only downside is that my skin has been so dry and flaky recently, this doesn't really cover that.

Those were my favorites for April! I've missed you guys!
