Ike's Lair, Cafe La Tartine, and Roam Burgers

On a visit to see the bf, we did a small little food tour throughout the bay. Our first stop was Ike's Lair. It took me a little while to figure out that Ike's Lair is the same as the famous Ike's Place sandwich shop. They may have different menu items, but they have the same secret menu, so you can order your favorite secret menu sandwich at any of their many locations. (Why they have different names, I have no idea, but trust me they have the same great sandwiches.)

I don't remember the exact sandwich I got, but I remember it had something to do with Halal chicken, ranch, mozzarella sticks, red pesto, everything on it, and Dutch Crunch bread. It was pretty good, but since then I've had better sandwiches from Ike's.

I had a little work to do, so we hunkered down at the Cafe La Tartine coffee shop, in Redwood City. I got a caramel macchiato, and a banana cream tart. Both were delicious.

Our next stop was Roam Burgers, which I've been to before in my San Francisco Food Tour post. We tried some new things, including the Tejano Burger, featured below. There were chips, on the burger! This was what the boyfriend ordered.

I ordered the French and Fries style burger. Yes, there are French fries on the burger! It's a good item for shock value, but I don't think it's my favorite tasting burger there. It was really rich, and had very strong flavors. It was a little too much for my palette. (And now I feel like a douche for saying palette, please forgive me.)

Roam has a different soda and milkshake flavor every month, and this month was a Blackberry soda. It was delicious, and if you don't quite want a rich milkshake to sip, I highly recommend their flavored sodas.

And of course, we had some of their Truffle Parmesan Fries. Which are always amazing.
