Ipsy Glam Bag January 2014 Review

My first Ipsy Glam Bag for January 2014 arrived and I am so excited to try all these products! I've seen some other reviews for this month's bag and a lot of people didn't like the bag, or were disappointed by the products and the sizes of the products. I actually really like the bag, I don't have a ton of cosmetic bags, so this one will be nice to throw some travel items in that won't fit in my regular Vera Bradley cosmetic bag (they no longer carry the color I have though). I wish there were a few more makeup items, but I understand, it's winter and they were trying to focus on skincare items.

Here's my Glam Room on my account and the items I received in this month's bag, along with an approximate value of the products:
  • Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask - ($5) I've never tried anything like this for my hair before, so I'm interested to see if it does anything for my dry ends. And it smells nice too, so I'm looking forward to trying it.
  • Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow in Pearl- ($7) This is a really light glittery highlight color. I'll definitely be using this as such, because it just doesn't have enough pigment to use as an eyeshadow color other than to highlight a different color.
  • Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion - ($6.50) I've been using a ton of face moisturizer lately because my skin gets really dry in the winter, so I will use this. It smells like oranges to me, even though that's not what the scent is supposed to be. EDIT*: I tried this and I love it! It's really light and the scent isn't too strong. I may be ordering a full size of this one!
  • MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm in Fiesta- ($18.75) I don't know if this could really be used as a lip balm because it is super pigmented. I've never been a fan of lipstick, or lip gloss really, but I gave this a shot, and I had to use the barest amount and then put chapstick over it because it is really pink. Probably my least favorite of the items, but I'll try to use it or pass it to someone who can pull off this color better than me.
  • Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads - ($16) I'm interested in trying these to see if they do anything for my skin. I had a lingering pimple for a while, and now it's gone but the mark won't go away. We'll see if these do anything for that.
Even though this month's Glam Bag was light on the makeup products and heavy on the skincare items, I'm definitely thankful for it because my skin could use some TLC. Even though I live in California and we didn't get the big storm here like the rest of the country did, my skin is still pretty dry and I want to take care of it more than I have in the past. I will definitely try all of the items in this bag so we'll see if I end up loving any of them.

I paid $11 for this month's Ipsy Glam Bag and received about $53.25 worth of products, not including the price of the bag. I'm so glad I tried out this subscription box! I think everyone compares it to Birchbox, but I think just the fact that you get a cosmetic bag every month makes Ipsy worth the $10+tax. If you'd like to subscribe to Ipsy just click the link here
