Indies of the Week: Glamour Doll Eyes + Shiro Cosmetics April 2015 COTMs Review

It occurred to me that doing a review of the indie Colors of the Month that I usually get each month, might be a good addition to Indies of the Week. I have the Glamour Doll Eyes April gift with purchase shadow, along with the Shiro Cosmetics color of the month, which happens to be a lip gloss this month! Here is 13 Shades of Cray, and Nic Cage Dyeing Eggs on a Sunny Green Spring Morning!

About - Glamour Doll Eyes is an indie cosmetics company specializing in eyeshadow, blush, lip glazes, gel eyeliner, and will be soon venturing into pressed shadows. Vanessa, the owner, is based in Nevada, and has been doing a monthly subscription for three years.

Shiro Cosmetics is an indie makeup company based out of Oregon, that focuses on geeky themed collections inspired by some of our favorite fandoms, including Pokemon, Game of Thrones, Avengers, and others. They offer sample bags, mini jars, and full size jars, and every month they have a color of the month that is voted on by their Facebook page fans.

Product Size - Typically, colors of the month only come in one size, and the eyeshadow is a full size, and so is the lip gloss.

Glamour Doll Eyes 13 Shades of Cray - "A periwinkle blue with a subtle violet sheen and green sparkles.

The color of the month from Glamour Doll Eyes is a little different from pretty much every other indie company, in that you actually get it for free with your qualifying order of $10 and up. It usually means I make at least one purchase a month, just to receive the eyeshadow. This month, it's a light blue shadow with a bit of a violet sheen and apparently green sparkles, but they looked silver to me. Some of my absolute favorite Glamour Doll Eyes shadows have been the gift with purchase of the month, so if the color for a certain month looks appealing to you, jump on it. If there are any left at the end of the month, they are put up for sale separately, but if they are, they usually sell out quickly. This shade looks similar to other shadows I have, so it's not completely unique. But I love the name, and always look forward to opening my order and getting a free shadow.

Shiro Cosmetics Nic Cage Dyeing Eggs on a Sunny Green Spring Morning - "Pale cool pink with a pearlescent shift and soft blue glitter. About halfway between sheer and moderate opacity, may be built up fairly well. Flavored like sweet strawberry marshmallow peeps!"

The label art for this lip gloss is completely ridiculous, I love it! The Shiro Cosmetics color of the month is like most indie COTMs, in that you do actually have to purchase it. And each month they are suggested by fans on their Facebook page, and voted on. The favorite for the month is made into a product you can purchase! Lip glosses don't win very frequently, so I knew I had to get this one. It's a pretty sheer light pink with lots of shift and tiny glitter. I really love it as a quick gloss on the go, or it could also be used as a topper over another color. And the flavor smells so yummy!

Availability - Both of these products will be available through the end of April. After that, there are sometimes some leftover after the end of the month, but not always.

Recommendation - If you love blue eyeshadows, you'll definitely want to pick up 13 Shades of Cray. And if you are a fan of Shiro lip glosses, you need Nic Cage Dyeing Eggs on a Sunny Green Spring Morning. It's become one of my new favorite glosses recently. Worth picking up even if you're not already planning an order.
