Indie Weekends: Alchemic Muse Summer Collection Review

Alchemic Muse always has their seasonal collections, and now that perfume samples are easily available, I couldn't wait to try the new Summer Collection. This is the first summer collection I have tried that is really reminiscent of the beach and fruity cocktails that if you're looking for something like that, this collection will be perfect for you!

AboutAlchemic Muse is an indie bath and body company, located out of Florida. They specialize in perfume, creme soaps, body whip, scrubs, body gloss, shower gel, and hair mist. They feature a permanent catalog, as well as seasonal collections.

Shipping - My order shipped 2 days after I ordered, and arrived in 2 days via USPS from Florida to California.

Product Size - All of these scents are in sample perfumes, but they can also be purchased as full size perfumes, or various other bath, body, and hair care products.

Free Samples - I received one free perfume sample with my order.

Bali Ha'i - "A tempting blend of sweet flowers and creamy, exotic drinks… juicy tropical fruits and island blossoms drenched in coconut milk and vanilla cream with a touch of praline."

Definitely very fruity, with florals, and a bit of vanilla creaminess. It absolutely reminds me of a fancy tropical drink, on a beach in Hawaii. I do get the bit of coconut, so it's also got a bit of a sunscreen-esque vibe.

Castaway - "Lost in paradise… creamy coconut milk and ripe banana amidst a light breezy veil of island orchids awash in the salty, summer essence of sand and sea."

This reminds me of something I swear I got from Fortune Cookie Soap, but I really like it. It's kind of florally, but with a bit of beach-iness. I really like this one, but but I don't see myself wearing this day after day. If you were worried about the banana though, I can't really pick it out, it's mostly a creamy floral type scent, with a bit of beach air to it.

Mango Tea - "Drink in the aroma and the atmosphere of the islands. Sweet, juicy mango fruit immersed in iced sweet tea softened with a touch of sultry vanilla bean and creamy white musk."

Very fruity, mango hits you over the head on first sniff. It's softened by a bit of tea and sweetness that reminds me of mango iced tea I get at a local cafe. It's heavier on the mango than the other notes, but still very authentic smelling. I think it would be a great scent for anyone who loves mangoes.

Pineapple Milk - "Evocative of gentle south seas breezes, swaying palm trees, and flowing grass skirts. A perfect blend of fresh, tangy pineapple enveloped in rich and creamy milk sweetened with raw sugarcane."

Wow, I wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I do. It's creamier than I thought it would be, and there's just a bit of the tangy pineapple lingering in the background. It is very tropical, and reminds me of a piña colada. I do get a bit of sourness to it, that I wonder if it's from the milk notes, but it doesn't bother me too much. If your skin tends to sour milky notes, you may want to stay away from this one, because my skin usually doesn't.

Tiki Moon - "Straight from the islands to entice your senses… freshly cracked coconut floating on a faint undercurrent of island fruits will have you dreaming of the tropics."

This smells like a slightly fruity coconut cocktail, definitely the most like a typical sunscreen scent. It's very light though, and the fruits aren't too heavy. Very nice, this would be something I wouldn't mind wearing all summer. It doesn't have much silage either.

Waikiki - "Sparkling island lime and freshly cracked coconut drenched in summer sunshine and splashed with salty ocean spray."

This kind of reminds me of laundry detergent or kitchen soap or something. It's very citrusy with the lime, but it still just reminds me of soap. I don't really get the coconut at all. And while it's not bad, this is probably my least favorite just because of the soapy scent it evokes. After dry down, it does calm itself a bit, and become more of a softer lime scent.

Overall, I thought this collection went a little heavy on the coconut. There are three out of six scents that I reviewed that had a coconut note of some kind. I should mention here that there was another scent added to this collection, after I ordered, so I do not have that to review. It's called Cantaloupe Lily, and it does sound like something I would like so I might have to make another purchase to grab that. I honestly don't even know if I could pick a favorite because so many of these smelled really similar. They're all very semi-sweet fruity scents, that smell like the beach or a cocktail. Which isn't necessarily bad, but I like collections to have a little bit more variety. I think my favorite may have been Pineapple Milk, which was surprising to me, I don't normally like pineapple scents. But it had a great balance of tang and sweetness that I liked a lot.

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my order.

Availability - All of these scents are available in their perfume form, or various other bath, body, and hair products. They are for a limited time though, so grab them while they're still available.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorite scent of this collection of the perfumes I tried, was Pineapple Milk. I think this collection lacked a bit of variety I tend to prefer with seasonal collections, but it is perfect for people who like coconut, fruity, sweet, or beachy scents.

  1. Great review! I love fruity and coconut scents so all of these are kinda my thing but I still totally agree that the collection lacks variety. I really love her product formulas though!
