Indie Weekends: Solstice Scents Spring Collection Review

Solstice Scents just recently released their Spring Collection and I was out and about when it went live, came back and almost everything was sold out! I couldn't believe it went so fast, but luckily I was only planning on purchasing the sample set. I'd also like to note that they changed pens that they use for writing the names on the labels, so they are more smudge-proof. Much nicer, because I was always smudging the old ones.

AboutSolstice Scents is an indie bath and body and perfumery, that sells perfumes, whipped soap, body ganache creams, bath soaks, and their burnishing glace sprays, which are kind of like body mists or can be used as bath oils. They are based out of Florida, and offer a main collection scent line, as well as seasonal collections that can mostly be ordered all year in sample form.

Shipping - My order shipped the next day, and arrived in 2 days via USPS from Florida to California.

Product Size - All of these are sample vials, but they do sometimes have full size bottles as well.

Free Samples - You get to pick a free sample at checkout, so I received my one free sample perfume.

Blossom Jam Tea Cakes - "Southern Tea Cakes, Petit Fours, Floral Infused Jams & Preserves and a Delicate Aroma of Tea"

It's a perfume like this that I put on and remember that Solstice Scents does gourmands like no one's business. This smells exactly like tea, cake, and a sweet fruity jam with a hint of florals. I think if I smelled this on someone else, I would wonder what delicious thing they were eating, it smells so authentic! The sweet fruity notes back away on dry down, and you get a bit more floral and cakey goodness. I always want to like tea notes, but sometimes they just don't agree with me. This one isn't too bad, and actually smells good without amping on my skin. Just delicious smelling, this is one I wouldn't mind having full size, even if I probably wouldn't wear it out much. I'd just put it on and dream of having tea cakes as delicious as this smells. Eventually it turns into a lovely vanilla scent that seemed to last most of the day. I was wearing this while cooking dinner and kept getting whiffs of it, and thought "I smell so good!"

Cameo - "Almond, Rose, Yellow Cake, Tonka Bean, Coconut, Ginger and Green Orange"

I may have died and gone to heaven smelling this. Who knew almond and rose together with yellow cake could smell this divine. And mixed with the other notes, this just smells like a delicate dessert. It's sweet, but not overbearing. It dissipates quite a bit after dry down, so I don't expect this to last hours and hours like Blossom Jam Tea Cakes did. After a bit, the coconut and ginger come through more, and it's a bit more tropical feeling. After 5 hours or so, I can still smell the tonka bean.

Cascade of Gold - "Sandalwood, White Sandalwood, Honeysuckle, Champa & White Lotus"

I was hoping the honeysuckle would be the star of the show on this one, but the sandalwood is taking center stage. It's soft though, not too woodsy. But the champa turns this into more of an incense type scent than I like, so this might be my least favorite of the collection. Even after a little while, I still don't get any of the honeysuckle, so that's a shame. Maybe a bit of the white lotus, it's got a tinge of florals that sit way far in the background.

Chantilly Cream - "Whipped Cream, Peach Nectar, Vanilla & Yellow Mandarin EO"

It immediately smells like a peach sauce poured over vanilla ice cream. This one is a favorite for a lot of people, and I see why, but my skin sort of eats it. The peach disappears almost immediately, and I'm just left with a sweet afterthought. Even after only a few minutes, I have to get real close to be able to detect any hint of scent. That's too bad, but I guess this won't be my favorite of the collection. After a little while longer I can smell it a little better, but it's doesn't have much silage.

Chiffon - "Vanilla, White Amber, White Musk & Lemon Myrtle EO"

This smells like a light fluffy lemon cake, it's very light. I don't think this would be for people who's skin tends to hate lemon notes and turns them into a cleaning product smell though. But with the vanilla, amber and musk I think you might be able to get away with it not doing that. As it dries down, the lemon isn't as prominent and the vanilla gives it more of a cake vibe. I enjoy sweet lemon perfumes, I would love this as a lotion, a soap, or a full size perfume. It's just so delicate and lovely.

Chrysalis - "Orange Blossom, Grass, Bitter Green Orange, Vetiver, Patchouli, Amber, Yellow Mandarin, Rose de Mai Absolute, Sandalwood and Indian Attars"

I will admit I was a bit worried about trying this one, there's always one Solstice Scents perfume in a collection that I think I will like the least. But this smells florally with a bit of spice to it. The orange blossom note in this is quite nice, not too tart and tangy like I've experienced with a few other perfumes. It's a bit floral on top, with a mellow spicy woodiness underneath. This is one I would use sparingly though, my skin has a tendency to amp these kinds of scents over time. I can't really pick out the patchouli, so if you were worried about that note, it isn't noticeable. I mostly get the sandalwood and orange blossom, but then again I don't know what some of the other notes smell like on their own. This is nice, but probably not something I would go for a full size of.

Overall, this was a lovely collection for spring, and has enough variety that there's something here for everyone. My ultimate favorite was definitely Blossom Jam Tea Cakes, I would get a full size of that for sure. Cameo, Chiffon, and Chantilly Cream were great as well, but didn't last quite as long for me. And Chrysalis was a bit of a surprise, I liked it much more than I anticipated when I first read the notes. I thought it would be my least favorite, but Cascade of Gold was that for me.

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my order.

Availability - The sample set is still available, and the full size perfumes are going to be restocked soon after their reopening on June 14th.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorites were Blossom Jam Tea Cakes, Cameo, and Chiffon. I really liked Chantilly Cream, but it just didn't last at all on my skin. I definitely recommend a few of these scents if you like cake, floral, or fruity perfumes.
