Julep Maven It Girl Intro Box Review and Free Code!

Yes, I realize this post isn't about food. But I have to admit, I've gone on a little subscription box binge. There are so many blogs just about subscription boxes! So I went through a bunch of them, and found some boxes I could afford, and wanted to try out. Even though this isn't a food post, I thought maybe some of you would enjoy reading some of these reviews. I promise, I'm not changing what I post, there will still be food, but I'm also receiving a few food subscription boxes so I'll share those as well as they arrive.

Julep Maven is mainly a nail polish subscription box. They do branch out and include various skincare and makeup items, but they mostly offer nail polish. Now I want to be clear here, I bit my nails for most of my life. I've tried to stop, thought I did a few times, but then it came right back. I also am not a big makeup wearing/painting my nails kind of girl. I don't do my hair, I still have my natural hair color, and I wear some makeup for events or parties, but mostly my makeup routine consists of some Clinique foundation and then I'm done. I did notice though that if my nails did start growing out, painting them helped me not bite them. They started growing out, and then I found out about Julep. I found a code for a free box, I just had to pay $4 in shipping. I was like "done, I'll try that." So I selected the It Girl Intro Box and received 3 polishes.

I picked this box because it was the only one that came with 3 polishes, because I didn't want the beauty item that came with the other boxes. Plus I liked the colors. From top to bottom the color names are Libby, Bunny, and Elle. Here's what Elle looks like on, sorry for the blurry photo my phone just wouldn't focus:

I really like the Elle purplish color, and I tried the teal Libby color which was also pretty. Right now, I don't have any bottom or top coat polish so I've just been doing one relatively thick layer of polish. The Libby color started peeling after a few days, the Elle color seems to be lasting longer. I haven't tried the white Bunny color yet though.

Overall, I'm happy with my free Julep Maven box, and the box is $20 a month, each month they offer upgrades where you can chose other products to get with your box for a discounted rate. They also do monthly mystery boxes for $25 which you can purchase on their store and you don't have to be a subscriber to purchase one. The other nice thing about their service is you can change which colors you receive every month, or if you don't like any of them, you can skip the month without being charged.

*EDIT*: I forgot to note that my box came with a 50% coupon for my next purchase not including boxes, or sale prices. I used it and did notice that if you place an order and select some add on polishes, the coupon applies to those as well! Easy way to stock up on some inexpensive colors!

Updated 4/21: New Julep Mavens can customize their box as much (or as little) as they like. Sign up for 1 month and pay $24.99/month, or sign up for 3 months and pay only $19.99/month! Take the style quiz and enter FREEBOX at checkout to get your first box free, just pay $2.99 for shipping!

Do you subscribe to Julep? What do you think of their Maven subscription boxes? If you do, what's been your favorite color you've received so far? Let me know in the comments!
