Birchbox January 2014 #2 Review

My January 2014 Birchbox finally arrived, you may remember from my first and last Birchbox December 2013 review, I had cancelled my subscription after January. Well, I'm here to say Birchbox won me back with this month's box, not just necessarily based on what I received, but collectively saw that this month they were trying to send more full size products in their boxes. I resubscribed because I wanted to make sure I got February's US Weekly collaboration box. I've also adjusted my style profile to see if I receive more full size products. This is the second box of my two subscriptions.

I received box #85:

Here's everything I received in my Birchbox, along with approximate dollar value:

  • Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Conditioner - ($9) I tried this and it seems to make my ends a little silkier on day one of not washing my hair. It's a nice scent, but I just don't think this could replace actual conditioner for my ends, they get so dry when I don't wash my hair.
  • Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish in Ride 'Em Cowgirl - ($5) I ordered a Nail Rock color with my Birchbox points so I was a little worried it would be just my luck to receive that same color in my box. I'm so happy I got this one instead! It'll be interesting to try out, it's a gold glitter indoors, and a red glitter outside! So cool!
  • 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea - ($7.50) I also received this in my 1st January Birchbox, so now I have more? I discovered I had a bunch of unused mascara, so now I have mascara for the next year at least.
  • Ahmad Teas Assorted Teas - ($0.50) Yay, more tea! I got Jasmine, Blackcurrant Burst, and Earl Grey flavors. I already used the teas from my other January box, so I'm glad to have these now that it's a little colder here.
  • Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips - ($3) I don't know that my sample is even half full, and I had to scrape it with a bobby pin to get the balm to come out of the tube. It seems like it's pretty much Vasoline, but I guess I'll use it. Seems to be keeping my lips from peeling and cracking. I did just buy an EOS lip balm the other day, so more lip balm! I can never have too much.

All totaled, my second January Birchbox was worth about $25! It's a higher value than my first January box, so I'm excited about that. I was hoping for that eyeshadow in this box, but I just got a bunch of eyeshadow's and eyeshadow creams in some other boxes, so I guess it's ok I didn't get it.

Birchbox is only $10 a month and they send you 5-6 (usually sample size) products. If you really like the sample, they offer the full size version on their shop for you to purchase. Like I said, I had decided to cancel before receiving January's box, but they've won me back, and I've adjusted my style profile to hopefully get more full size products.

If you're signing up, be sure to enter code USWEEKLY100 when you check out for 100 points to your account, which is equal to $10! Same price as the box!
