Julep January 2014 Secret Store Purchases and Promo Code

Every 1st of the month if you get your monthly Julep box, you get access to their Secret Store. For January, I got a few colors to add to my quickly growing collection. They introduced their Birthstone Collection, which started with Betty - Garnet for January. I was a little surprised to receive this box today, because I only got my shipping confirmation for it today!

Here's what Betty - Garnet for January looks like, it's beautiful! It's really thick with glitter so I had to kind of do one thick coat on some, others were 2 thin coats with top coat because it's not really shiny on it's own. People were complaining that the color isn't reminiscent of a garnet, which is what the color is supposed to be based on, but I disagree. Gemstones come in all colors and just because it doesn't like look the quintessential garnet as you know it, doesn't mean it's inaccurate. It's more purply than red and looks just like this garnet:

Here's the list of the colors I received from the January Secret Shop, all prices are original price unless noted. Lacey and Betty are the only ones still available for purchase:

• Shimmer and Shake - This was a combo pack made up of 2 colors.
• Lacey - ($14) I already had this color, but it was a combo pack with Zelda, which was discontinued otherwise and I really wanted it! I'll probably just gift this to a friend.
• Zelda - I had been eyeing this color for a while, but it was suddenly discontinued and I was so disappointed! But, I noticed it came in this combo pack with Lacey and even though I already had Lacey I had to get it! If you play video games, I think you can imagine why I wanted a nail polish color named Zelda, but it's also a pretty shimmery gold color.
• Cynthia - This was the Facebook voted item included in the Secret Shop. It's a desert gold color.
• Sheila - I needed a good red color, and saw this and had to get it.
• Ciara - I've been eyeing this color too, and had to grab it.
• Stevie - This is a dark silver color.
• Betty - ($14) This is the first color from the new Birthstone Collection that Julep is doing this year, I assume they're going to release a new color every month that corresponds to that month's traditional birthstone. I can't wait to get to mine, April which is diamond, and I'm hoping it will be glittery!
