August Favorites

August was an interesting month for favorites, as many of mine weren't just one single product, but groups of them. And one group of products that I don't actually own, but am wanting so badly! Let's dig into the awesome stuff I've been loving for August!

Fortune Cookie Soap The Shiz Perfume Oil - "A woodland hike through damp balsam woods, with top notes of maple leaves blowing through new dawn blossom, laurel and sweet clove."

I received a sample of this in my Fall Soap Box, and really enjoyed it when I first got it. Then I went back to using some of my other perfumes, and then came back to this near the end of the month. It's a fall outdoorsy scent that I just want to slather all over myself in every product variation they carry. I'm already kicking myself for not getting more of this in the fall launch, but they will restock it, I plan on getting this scent in the foaming soap, more perfume, and the hair oil. Clove is not a scent I normally enjoy, and if I just read the description I probably would have passed on getting this, but it's really wonderful. And most of the other people who got the Fall Soap Box must have agreed, because it was one of the first products to sell out during the launch.

My New Skincare Routine - Since I've been getting more and more Memeboxes, filled with Korean skincare products, I figured I should start using some, and figure out a skincare routine that worked for me. Well I think I've found one, my skin has been looking better than ever! Very few breakouts, and the ones I already had are disappearing, my hyperpigmentation spots aren't as dark as they were. So here's the combination I use, and of course, not everything that works for me will work for you, so please test and check ingredients before trying any of these products.
  1. Liz Earle Cleansing Cloth
  2. Ladykin Broccoli Essence Toner
  3. Laneige Perfect Renew Firming Eye Cream
  4. Laneige Water Bank Serum
  5. Dermahouse Perfect Moisture Whitening Mask
Zoya Payton - I got this polish from my Summer Secret Santa Swap buddy and oh my god it is so gorgeous! It's a perfect fall/winter color that I'm actually considering taking it off and painting my nails with it again. Over and over. All season long. It's got purple and red holographic flecks in it and it's just a beautiful color. I highly recommend picking it up if you like purples or want a good fall polish.

Indie Cosmetics - It's no mystery I love Indies and I may have gone a little crazy with them in August. And broke my no buy for them...again and again. But, I'm supporting small businesses! Yeah, I can try to justify it all I want, I failed my no buy, but I will look and smell so pretty! And it was all for you guys, I got plenty of stuff for me to review! For you! Ok, maybe it was a little for me too :D Here are the new Indies I will be reviewing soon:
  • Haunt Beguiling Bath and Body - This is a rare opportunity so I hear, the products right now on the site are currently made-to-order meaning everything should still be in stock! I have heard some amazing things about these products, so pick some up if you're interested because there won't be a Halloween collection, and normally this stuff sells out in minutes because it's usually just a set stock she sells through.
  • Life's Entropy
  • Geek Chic Cosmetics
  • Shiro Cosmetics
  • Hello Waffle
  • Haus of Gloi Fall Collection - Currently closed to restock and catch up on fall collection products.
  • Innocent + Twisted Alchemy subscription - Also a rare opportunity, the subscription is still in stock at the time of writing this, normally these sell out quickly.

My Eyeshadow and Pigment Collection - I haven't even used all of these colors yet, but sometimes I just like to go into my bathroom just to oogle these! You guys all do that too right? Please tell me you do, because otherwise I will feel weird lol! Most of them are from Glamour Doll Eyes, but there's a scattering of Innocent + Twisted Alchemy, Rainbow Honey (they don't make pigments normally, it was an experiment product from their mystery bag), Hello Waffle and Darling Girl. I need to get new storage for these though, as these current drawers don't allow the jars to stand vertically which would be the most space efficient.

Memebox! - I have just been loving the surprise and themes of Memeboxes and Korean skincare is working wonderfully for my skin. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for better skincare products, but only if you can handle not being able to get ahold of customer service most of the time. I've found this to be the most frustrating part of the Memebox experience, but otherwise everything else has been great. I also like that you can pick and choose which boxes to buy, you're not stuck on a subscription plan you have to pay for every month and cancel. You can just buy any box any time! Well, as long as it's in stock. I remember peeking at their website back when they first got started and I'm kicking myself now for not buying anything back then! I think I just didn't "get it".

Infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars - Not beauty related, but this is Evolution of a Foodie after all! I may not cook as much now as I have in the past, but these are some of my favorite things to change up any recipe. You probably don't want to know how many different oils and vinegar flavors I have, but I'm going to list them anyways! Because lists are also a favorite :)
  • Lemon Olive Oil
  • Basil Olive Oil
  • Garlic Olive Oil
  • Wild Mushroom/Sage Olive Oil
  • Chipotle Olive Oil
  • JalapeƱo Garlic Olive Oil
  • Sweet Heat Balsamic Vinegar (Serranos and Habaneros, are you seeing the trend yet? I love spicy things!)
  • Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar
  • Fig Balsamic Vinegar
  • Blackberry Ginger Balsamic Vinegar
  • Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Vinegar
  • Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar
  • Tangerine Balsamic Vinegar
I didn't realize I had so many! And I ordered some fresh habaneros so I plan on making some habanero infused olive oil with those! The infused oils and vinegars are so fun and easy to add to any dish. I don't really know how I accumulated so many, but I know many were gifts, and one of my favorite combos is the basil olive oil and strawberry vinegar. It's great on salads, or even over a Caprese salad to change it up from the classic dish. The lemon olive oil is also a favorite, I actually have two bottles. These might be my new kitchen thing to collect, I didn't really realize how many different ones I had!

Zoya Entice and Ignite Collections - This is kind of a funny favorite, because I don't actually own these polishes! But I've been lusting after them ever since they were announced, and I will get almost all of them eventually. I especially love that there's a Sansa color (Game of Thrones, woot!)

Masters of Sex (The TV show!) - This show has been on my to-watch list ever since it premiered, and I just discovered that Showtime now has an Apple TV app to stream their shows and I didn't really have anything else to watch so I started this show! It's not quite as smutty as the name implies, but it is an adult show, not for the kids. But what I really love about it is the talented acting, the discussion of all sorts of issues of the time period, it's funny, it's serious, it's thought-provoking, and some of my favorite characters aren't even in every episode. They cover a wide range of hot button issues, so if you're sensitive to those, you might want to skip this show, but I really love it. Every issue you can imagine has pretty much been covered and discussed in a thought-provoking way. And I watched an episode last night that had me bawling my eyes out. I have been raving about it pretty much every day to B, so once we have some time, we're going to watch it together.

That's it! All my favorites for August! What were some of your favorites for August? Let me know in the comments!
