Indie Subscription: Aromaleigh April 2015 Ephemera Review

Eep this post is a bit late! I was having some computer troubles and taking forever to do my look, but it's finally here! There was a small incident where the Aromaleigh Ephemera had to be switched over to a new subscription platform because the original system was giving errors. Everyone had to resubscribe who had been previously, and I was so close to not resubscribing. As much as I loved this subscription, the products were going to be available for purchase two months after they came in the box, and I wasn't sure it was worth it. But I changed my mind and resubscribed and I'm so glad I did! This month was amazing, and I just loved all the colors.

AboutAromaleigh opened back in 1998, and was one of the first indie cosmetic companies to be started. Kristen is the owner, and is based in South Carolina. They offer a few fandom related collections, including Hannibal, Sherlock, and the Hunger Games, but most of their collections are historically and mythologically inspired. The monthly Ephemera subscription began January 2015.

Shipping - My box shipped on the 1st this month, and arrived 2 days later via USPS from South Carolina to California.

Product Size - All of the products this month were minis.

Free Samples - We received a free sample from Glamour Doll Eyes, as well as two Aromaleigh sneak peek shades.

All eyeshadow swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. The highlighter and blush are done over bare skin and blended out.

I just love how informative the info cards are for this subscription. And pretty too, the background color and design is aesthetically pleasing.

Everything in the box! The candy this month were Hershey Kisses.

Locus of Desire - "A soft coral peach frost with golden shimmer."

In the jar, this looked like it was just going to be a plain pink, but it's such a pretty peachy coral shade! I really like the golden sparkles in it too.

Metamorphose - "A midtone mauve with with buff tones, and green/chartreuse interference highlights."

I remember this was the sneak peek shade in last month's box, and I think the final product looks much improved from the sneak peek. I really like it, it's like a muted dark purple with a green shimmer/shift. Dark, but not too dark to be intimidating using it as an outer corner and crease shade.

Realm of Flora - "A pale creamy peach with a violet highlight."

I was looking at this in the jar and was wondering how this shade would look. I was worried it would be too yellow, but it's a very soft cream color with a strong violet sheen. Very pretty, and so unique too. I don't think I've ever seen a highlight shade quite like this one.

Vernal Roses - "A muted, mostly matte mauved rose with delicate copper shimmer."

I knew I would love this blush when I opened the jar, but it's even prettier swatched! It's kind of a slight purplish pink matte blush with a bit of a coppery sheen. Not too much though, this will be a great everyday blush.

Glamour Doll Eyes Floralia -

This is a cream shadow from Glamour Doll Eyes, and it's reminiscent of another shade from GDE. But it's like a salmon pink with a pink sheen, very pretty and it applies so smoothly. I swatched this over primer, because even with cream shadows, they should be used over primer. It was a bit difficult to get out of the clamshell, because I actually had to scrape some out to get enough for the swatch. But normally these are packaged in lip balm tubes, so they are easier to apply that way. This cream shadow can also be given a whole new look by applying another shadow over the top.

La Plus Heureuse -

This is the sneak peek shade for next month's theme, which is Anne Boleyn! Or at least based around something like that, maybe the Tudors in general. I read a historical fiction book recently called The Other Boleyn Girl which was quite good, and I recommend if you don't enjoy straight history. Of course the book is not completely accurate, but was a fun read if you're interested in learning a bit about that time, in a more fictional setup. But back to the eyeshadow, this is a gorgeous eggplant shade with a bit of a sheen, and tons of gold and copper sparkles. I love this, I can't wait to get the full size next month.

Minthe -

And the last sneak peek is a shadow from the upcoming Flower Nymph Collection. It's a mint green with a bit of a violet sheen I think. It's hard to tell, possibly silver.

I've been addicted to Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy, so I of course had to use it as the base for my look this month.

Locus of Desire is the inner corner color, Metamorphose is the outer corner and crease color, and Realm of Flora was used as a brow highlight. I love that you can see a bit of the Metamorphose shift in the look.

Realm of Flora was used as the cheek highlight, Vernal Roses as the blush, and Shiro's Quit Playing Games With My Carter as the lip color! I wanted to use Floralia in the look somehow, but decided to just keep this as a simple look with just the main products.

For the look I used:
  • Face -
    • Miguhara BP Cream
    • Clinique Superbalanced Foundation in shade Breeze
    • Hello Waffle Finishing Powder
  • Lips -
    • Shiro Quit Playing Games With My Carter
  • Cheeks -
    • Aromaleigh Realm of Flora
    • Aromaleigh Vernal Roses
  • Eyes -
    • theBalm Put A Lid On It primer
    • Aromaleigh Locus of Desire
    • Aromaleigh Metamorphose
    • Aromaleigh Realm of Flora
    • Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
    • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Overall, I absolutely love the colors this month! Everything is right up my alley, and the full look is something I would wear all the time. The highlighter is so unique too, it gives a soft violet glow to the skin which looks so beautiful. If you missed out this month, I would highly recommend grabbing the extras that will go up for sale on June 1st. I don't know if I can pick a favorite product this month, I love everything, and I can't wait for the sneak peek shade in next month's box.

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my subscription.
