I originally saw some spoilers for this month's Hello Waffle Visage and thought it looked like a similar color scheme from last month and I wasn't sure how excited I was about it. Apparently, this similarity didn't go unnoticed by Christine and she apologized about it on the info card. But after swatching everything and seeing it in person, I think all is forgiven! I just love the theme this month, and a return to neutrals with a pop of color is never a bad thing.
About - Hello Waffle is an indie cosmetics company specializing in beautiful eyeshadow collections, blushes, made by Christine, the owner. Hello Waffle is based in Canada, and currently has collections inspired by Archer, Fringe, famous musical composers, cats/literature, and a collection celebrating reaching 1000 Facebook likes. She also offers seasonal fairytale inspired collections that can be purchased in the season they are inspired by.
How adorable is that label art! It might be my absolute favorite one we've received so far!
Shipping - This month because of the Easter holidays, the box shipped on the 7th of this month. Mine arrived 6 days later via USPS from Canada to California.
Product Size - Everything in this month's box was full size.
Free Samples - There were no free samples included this month.
All eyeshadow swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. The bronzer is swatched over bare skin and blended out.
I love that the ribbon colors match the colors we received this month. And the ribbon is so cute I am saving it for reuse.
The info card had quite a bit of text on it this month. And I love the story, I've never heard of it before, but it's quite hilarious if you haven't read it.
A Trail of Forests - ($6.21) "Shimmery bronze."
Christine noted in the info card that this was the debut appearance of her new eyeshadow formula, and that it's a little clumpier than before and might be more difficult to get out of the sifter. It was a bit more difficult, but it's worth it once you try it. It's so buttery smooth and applies like a dream. I'm almost a bit sad I already have so many Hello Waffle shades because I want them all in this new formula! But this shade is just how it's described, and will make a great outer corner and crease shade.
To Save A Prince - ($6.21) "Shimmery peach gold."
This one applies so smoothly too, and it's a very subtle peach gold. It would make a great all over lid color, or a beautiful middle of the lid color for a halo eye look.
Nothing But a Paper Bag - ($8.61) "Shimmery bronzer."
I have never used a bronzer before. If I hadn't seen the swatch, I think I would be quite scared of this product. But it swatched so beautifully, I almost couldn't wait to try it to see what I could do with it.
Around The World - ($4.41) "Bright sunset orange."
I have never really been afraid of an orange lip, and this one did take quite a bit of building up to be this opacity. You could easily wear it much lighter for a subtler look, or this dark for the summer when I expect orange will be in again. The formula is a bit hard, so it takes quite a few pass-overs to get it to show.
Smells Like Ashes - ($4.41) "Nude, leans slightly pink."
I heard that Christine had created the perfect nude for this month's box and I was skeptical. Nude lip colors have never appealed to me because I figured I could never pull them off being as pale as I am. However, this shade looks lovely, it's just slightly lighter than my natural lip color, nothing too dramatic. And a nude color is so fuss free, because you're not worrying too much about keeping it in your lip lines. It's very pretty, I am excited to wear it.
Dark Matter Makeup Draconis - ($7.24) "Shimmery bright green with gold duochrome."
This was my first time trying a full size eyeshadow from Dark Matter Makeup, and I much prefer it over the sample test tubes they carry. However, it's still not my favorite, unique but not very mess-free. I like jars because I can just apply a bit of shadow to one side of my brush and then pat on my eyes. But with this, I have to delicately dip my brush in and try not to get shadow all over the handle and basically everywhere I don't want it. I can be done, but I probably wouldn't reach for this if I was in a hurry. The shade itself is nice, it has lots of golden sparkle. Before I even received my Visage I was thinking I'd use this as a bottom lash liner, so it was good to read Christine used it exactly as such on the info card.
I knew I wanted to do a very neutral look with the nude lip and the green shadow as an under eye liner. But I practiced a little beforehand with the bronzer and the blush I wanted to use to see how it would work. And it did!
Draconis is foiled for the under eye liner.
I used To Save A Prince on the inner two thirds of the lid, and foiled A Trail Of Forests on the outer corner. I used Nothing But A Paper Bag as the transition shade, and then foiled some Aromaleigh Leshy as the eyeliner. The liner is a bit dramatic, but the look didn't look quite right without it. You could always skip it, or do it a bit thinner for a more day time friendly look.
Doing this look was a bit of trial and error because I wasn't getting quite the look I imagined, so I just kept changing it midway through. But it ended up working and looking like a very nice neutral look that could be worn day or night, or updated for either.

Overall, this month's Hello Waffle Visage had a total value of $36.03. At first, I wasn't thrilled with the spoilers of this box, but once I had it I really started to love everything. The label art is great this month, and the neutrals are going to be great staples in my collection. I'm still not quite sure how I feel about the bronzer, but the two lip colors are fun, and the nude will probably be a new favorite for me. And the bonus shade from Dark Matter Makeup adds a nice pop of color to the whole theme. It is all very warm toned though, so I am hoping for some cooler colors next month. Christine did mention it would be a high value month for May, so I am looking forward to that! The new eyeshadow formula is amazing, so if you haven't bought anything yet from Hello Waffle and have been wanting to, wait for the release of the new formula and you'll be so thrilled.
Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with this month's box.
Availability - The Hello Waffle products will be available for a separate purchase on the 15th of this month through the end of the month. After that they will be gone forever.
Overall Satisfaction - My favorite product this month was probably Smells Like Ashes. And I love the look it all created. I can't wait to see what next month's subscription has in store!
