Indie Subscription: Aromaleigh June 2015 Ephemera Review

The Aromaleigh Ephemera subscription is one of my most anticipated subs every month, and this month didn't disappoint. The theme was based on Melusine, from European folklore, which is kind of akin to a mermaid! I was pleasantly surprised that there were not just blues and greens this month, which is kind of what you expect when you think of mermaids.

AboutAromaleigh opened back in 1998, and was one of the first indie cosmetic companies to be started. Kristen is the owner, and is based in South Carolina. They offer a few fandom related collections, including Hannibal, Sherlock, and the Hunger Games, but most of their collections are historically and mythologically inspired. The monthly Ephemera subscription began January 2015.

Shipping - My subscription was shipped on the 1st, and arrived 3 days later via USPS from South Carolina to California.

Product SizeAll of the products this month were minis.

Free Samples - We received one free lip sample this month from Dreamworld Hermetica.

The wonderful info card this month.

How pretty is that artwork this month! It was done by Linda Wan of Innocent+Twisted Alchemy. And the candy we got was phenomenal, it was pear and cinnamon flavored.

Bain Enchantée - "Lustrous, pale silvered heather with a myriad of borealis microshimmer."

This is probably my favorite shadow this month, and for my look I used it over Pixie Epoxy all over the lid.

Lamentation - "A gorgeous vibrant warm pink with a strong violet glow."

This blush reminds me of the highlighter we got in April I believe, with the same kind of violet glow. It's quite nice, this is something I could see myself using all the time.

Mélusine - "Tauped plum with a vivid iridescent gold/chartreuse/green shift."

I used this in the outer corner and crease of my look, and it does blend down nicely to more of a brownish purplish shade. But I also think this could be used as an all over lid shade.

Spectre de la Nuit - "A versatile contouring shade that leans on the cool side."

I wasn't sure how this would work on my skin tone, but it actually worked really well. It seems like the more you blend it, the more brown tones it takes on, so it actually looked really nice on my skin tone as a contour shade.

Tres Faulse Serpente - "Muted teal frost with iridescent teal/green shift and violet sparks."

I knew I wanted to foil this and use as a liner, and it ended up looking very pretty with the other products and shades.

Dreamworld Hermetica Dark Mermaid -

This shop is currently closed so I can't get the official link or description for this product, but it's kind of a warm brown shade with a blue glow. It's ok, but brown lip products are not my favorite. It does look nice if you use a very light application, but I also don't care for the packaging. It's in a tube instead of a clamshell.

Here's my quick look I did. Sorry for the photo quality, I was at B's and only had my phone. I really liked how it turned out, everything worked well for the most part!

For the look I used:
  • Face -
    • Miguhara BP Cream
    • Clinique Superbalanced Foundation in shade Breeze
    • Innisfree Smart Make Up Blender (Cover)
  • Lips -
    • Dreamworld Hermetica Dark Mermaid
  • Cheeks -
    • Aromaleigh Lamentation
    • Aromaleigh Spectre de la Nuit
  • Eyes -
    • theBalm Put A Lid On It primer
    • Aromaleigh Bain Enchantée
    • Aromaleigh Mélusine
    • Aromaleigh Tres Faulse Serpente
    • Hello Waffle Wings of a Fly
    • Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
    • Glamour Doll Eyes Foil Me
    • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Overall, this month's Ephemera had a total value of $25.50 and I really liked the theme and the products we received this month. My favorite is Bain Enchantée, but I also liked Lamentation and the contour. My least favorite product was the Dark Mermaid lip product, I didn't really love the color and the packaging was inconvenient. But otherwise, this was a great month! The theme for next month appears to be Nikola Tesla, and we've already seen some sneak peeks, so I am extremely excited for that!

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my subscription.

Availability - More Ephemera slots will open June 20th at 3 PM EST. Otherwise, you can purchase the products separately starting August 1st.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorite products this month were Bain Enchantée, Lamentation, and Spectre de la Nuit. I really liked the shadows this month, they created a very pretty overall look.

  1. Brown lip shades can be difficult but you pull that off well! It looks awesome, especially with your final look. Will you be reviewing the full Menagerie too?
