Indie Subscription: Aromaleigh May 2015 Ephemera Review

May's Aromaleigh Ephemera arrived quite a while ago, but I just didn't have time to do my look I normally do. I probably should have gotten to this much earlier, but I have just not felt like doing my makeup much this month. Or really any time I am not leaving the house, or I'm in a rush, or it's early. Do you ever get that? Well anyways, it's finally here, my review for May's Ephemera, sans my usual look.

About - Aromaleigh opened back in 1998, and was one of the first indie cosmetic companies to be started. Kristen is the owner, and is based in South Carolina. They offer a few fandom related collections, including Hannibal, Sherlock, and the Hunger Games, but most of their collections are historically and mythologically inspired. The monthly Ephemera subscription began January 2015.

Shipping - The Ephemera ships on the 1st of the month, and mine arrived in 3 days via USPS from South Carolina to California.

Product SizeAll of the products this month were minis.

Free Samples - We received two free samples from Aromaleigh, and one sample from Black Violet.

All eyeshadow swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. Blush and highlight swatches are done over bare skin and blended out.

The beautiful info card this month, I just love the background design of these. It's always a treat to see what Kristen comes up for this every month.

This month we received blood orange candy!

Besotted - "A smooth, lustrous copper with violet tones."

I really love this kind of reddish metallic shade, it will definitely become a new favorite.

La Plus Heureuse - "A celebratory regal purple, with gold and copper sparkle and shimmer."

I loved the sneak peek sample we got of this shade last month, so I couldn't wait to get the jar of it this month. Tons of golden sparkle in this shadow.

Lady Perseverance - "The perfect coral rose blossom, freshly pinched from the vine, with delicate lustre."

A lovely pink coral shade, I think this blush will be perfect for summer.

Marquess - "Soft violet with golden highlights."

I had no idea what to imagine this shade would look like before swatching it, but it's a very shimmery golden highlight with some violet undertones. Very unique, definitely worth checking out if you're addicted to highlighters.

Black Violet Enigma - "Blood orange, sweet orange, benzoin, petitgrain."

This has a very light blood orange scent, which I found didn't last long on me. The sample is only half full, which is kind of a bummer, but I didn't like it enough or find it unique enough to want a full size.

Tarantula -

This is a sneak peek shade from the second part of the Galactic collection. I have been waiting for the release of part two to grab the whole collection, and this shade is making me even more anxious for it's release!

Tres Faulse Serpente -

This is the sneak peek for next month's theme which is Melusine! Melusine is from European folklore, and is depicted as mermaid-like. It's the perfect theme for the start of summer, I can't wait to see the rest of the shades!

Overall, I love the pink and purple shades we got this month, those are some of my favorite makeup shades to wear. Sorry for the lack of a look this month, it's just if it's already June and I still haven't done it, I probably will never get to it. And it's not a reflection on my like/dislike of the shades, I love the shades, I just sometimes get in a no-makeup rut. If I were to do a look though, I think I would use Besotted all over the lid, with La Plus Heureuse in the crease, and maybe also foiled as a liner. I might use Lady Perseverance as a transition shade, as well as the blush. And Marquess would be used as the brow highlight and cheek highlight. I think my favorites will be pretty much all of the shades, and I love the sneak peek shadows as well. Such a beautiful month!

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my subscription.

Availability - I believe the Ephemera has switched over to a first come, first serve for new slots. You can check the Facebook page for details. Otherwise, any leftover products will be made available on the site in two months time. May's will be up July 1st.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorites are pretty much all of the products, I especially love Besotted, and Marquess is so unique. I can't wait to see the mermaid-like shades next month! As much as I love pinks and purples, it will be a nice change to get some cooler shades next month.
