Indie Subscription: Hello Waffle June 2015 Visage Review

My Hello Waffle Visage review is a bit late for June, but I did my look on the 4th of July! It worked out perfectly since June's box focused on shades of red. I also wore a Captain America shirt, so I was very patriotic! This month's products were inspired by Princess Mononoke and I got to try Preen Cosmetics for the first time!

AboutHello Waffle is an indie cosmetics company specializing in beautiful eyeshadow collections, blushes, and lip products, made by Christine, the owner. Hello Waffle is based in Canada, and currently has collections inspired by Archer, Fringe, famous musical composers, cats/literature, and a collection celebrating reaching 1000 Facebook likes. She also offers seasonal fairytale inspired collections that can be purchased in the season they are inspired by.

Shipping - The Visage shipped on the 9th for June, and I'm not exactly sure when it arrived because I wasn't home and you don't get tracking. However, mine usually arrives in 5 days from Canada to California.

Product Size - Everything this month but the blush was full size. The blush was a mini.

Free Samples - We did not receive any free samples this month.

All eyeshadow swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. Blush swatch is done over bare skin and blended out.

Here's how the box was wrapped this month! Very cute, I love the fluffy ball on the top.

And the info card, this month's theme was inspired by Princess Mononoke.

A God of Life And Death - "A dark taupe leaning purple with a red shift. Look closely and you might find some blue and turquoise."

I was imagining this would be darker than when I swatched it, so I was actually pretty happy with how this shadow turned out. It's subtle enough to be worn for any event, and it's work appropriate.

Neither Wolf Nor Human - "Dark burgundy with a lighter orange/red sheen and a sparkle of midnight blue."

You should all know I love red and burgundy eyeshadows by now, so it's no surprise that this was my favorite shade of the box this month. I love the blue sparkles, and I think this will be just perfect for all kinds of applications.

Passage Through The Forest - "A white-green with a stronger forest-green sheen and a twinkle of red and white."

I thought this was a perfect inner corner and brow highlight shade to go with the other shades this month.

The Days of Gods and Demons - "Rusty blood red blush with pink undertones."

This blush is super pigmented! It looks like you got a bit too much sun on your face. I found that if I swirled around what was in the lid onto my brush, and then used that to apply to both cheeks, and topped with a finishing powder, it was the right amount of pigmentation.

Preen Cosmetics Power to Bite - "Blood red creme."

This was my first time trying Preen Cosmetics, which is a brand new indie brand, they just opened in April. I was so surprised by how creamy and pigmented this lipstick was, I am looking forward to trying more of their products! But since I was going to be eating and drinking right after I took my photos, I did take this off since I knew it would just get everywhere. I tend to prefer mattes for that situation.

I realized I did a look kind of similar to last month, but it's ok, I was trying to go blue and red for the 4th of July. I think this box really shows that red can be not as scary as many think, especially as an eyeshadow. I think next time, I might just do a one lid look, and then make Neither Wolf Nor Human the liner. That could be an easy alternative look for people who are scared of red eyeshadow.

I used Passage Through The Forest as the brow highlight and in the inner corner. A God of Life and Death over Pixie Epoxy over the inner two thirds of the lid. And Neither Wolf Nor Human in the outer corner and blended into the crease. I brought in Shiro Cosmetics Zora Sapphire foiled as my liner. I probably should have used something a little more blue, and less teal, but I liked it. You could also do a ombre liner which is a lot of fun.

I was in a bit of a rush and my wings weren't perfectly symmetrical, but they were good enough! You could also bring Neither Wolf Nor Human smudged down into the lower lash line as well if you wanted.

For the look I used:
  • Face -
    • Miguhara BP Cream
    • Clinique Superbalanced Foundation in shade Breeze
    • Hello Waffle Finishing Powder
  • Lips -
    • Preen Cosmetics Power to Bite
  • Cheeks -
    • Hello Waffle The Days of Gods and Demons
  • Eyes -
    • theBalm Put A Lid On It primer
    • Hello Waffle A God of Life and Death
    • Hello Waffle Neither Wolf Nor Human
    • Hello Waffle Passage Through The Forest
    • Shiro Cosmetics Zora Sapphire
    • Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
    • Glamour Doll Eyes Foil Me
    • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Overall, I love this month's products and shades. I made it into my June favorites post, because I just can't get enough red. I think there are a ton of ways to combine the shades this month into various looks as well. And it was awesome getting to try Preen Cosmetics, it was even creamier and more pigmented than I expected! My favorite shade was Neither Wolf Nor Human, but I also think A God of Life and Death will make it into my regular rotation. It's a very subtle reddish taupe, which I'll probably reach for when I need to do my makeup quickly.

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my subscription.

AvailabilityThe Hello Waffle products will be available for a separate purchase on the 15th of this month through the end of the month.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorites were Neither Wolf Nor Human and A God of Life and Death. I loved the shades this month, it was a little daring, but still very wearable.
