First, was a waffle from Volkswaffle. We got strawberries and whipped cream on ours, and it was a delicious sweet treat to start off our food truck testing.

My 2nd SactoMoFo
You may remember a past post about Sacto MoFo explaining that it's a food truck get-together in Downtown Sacramento that they put on during the summer. Well, I went to a second one, and finally got to bring B. We tried some delicious food and here is what we tried. We tried foods from Volkswaffle, Red Truck, Star Ginger, and Chairman Bao.

Pre-Birthday Dinner: Sienna Restaurant
Since I was going to be out of town on my actual birthday, I did my birthday dinner with my parents a day early. I decided on Sienna Restaurant, because I had heard it was good food, and it was! I ordered a drink, which was the Sweet Serrano Chilitini. It was tart and a little spicy, although I liked my mom's drink a little better which was sweeter.
My dad ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak, which I didn't get a chance to try, but he said it was really good.
Here's what I ordered, the Vermont Cheddar Kobe Burger. The burger had good flavors, but the bun got very soggy. It was like they cooked the burger, didn't let it rest and just plopped it on the bun. I finally had to eat the rest with a fork and knife, which could have been prevented. The fries were very good, but I don't think I could recommend the burger. I would definitely order something else the next time I go to Sienna.
Overall, I really liked this restaurant. I would go back, there are a sufficient number of interesting looking dishes to choose from. Entrees are about $15-30 each, and I had a hard time choosing which to order because there were so many tasty looking entrees.

My mom ordered the Seared Scallop Risotto, which I tried and it was quite delicious. I don't even like mushrooms that much, and they were in this dish.

My dad ordered the caramel empanadas for dessert, which I never even got a taste of. I imagine it was good, because he ate the whole thing.

Wine Review
I have something a little different today, a wine review! I decided to take advantage of a 5 cent wine sale at Bevmo, and purchased 4 bottles total, 2 different wines. I used my Cor.kz iPhone app to pick out some favorites of users there, and on the Bevmo site and ordered them. I reviewed the app on my Tech page, so check it out!
Here are the wines I bought:
Let me say, I'm not a big fan of dry wines, I like them to be a little sweeter. I'm also a big fan of white wine, because they tend to be sweeter. This Tapiz Chardonnay isn't too dry, not sweet, but I enjoyed it. I didn't like it as much as the next wine, but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a chardonnay. I still have some in the fridge right now, I may go drink the rest right now!
I'm a big fan of Gewürztraminer's, they're sweet, smooth and delicious. This one especially was extremely smooth, mildly sweet and one of those wines I could drink multiple glasses in one night, easily. I still have a bottle of this, because I wanted to save it for last. I highly recommend it if you tend to like sweeter wines.

Tequila Sunrise
This has become my new favorite mix drink. I'm a big sucker for bright colors, so this drink is my kryptonite. I usually stir mine after I put everything into the glass, just so I don't get to the bottom of a super concentrated, sweet concoction. It's pretty and tasty!
No real recipe here, just mix:
About 2 shots of your favorite tequila
Almost fill the glass with orange juice
Add a couple splashes of Grenadine, just enough to make the bottom half of the glass red/pink
Stir and enjoy!

Margaritas!
I never thought about the combination of orange juice with margaritas, but it totally works! I found this tasty recipe from my favorite cook, Alton Brown on his show Good Eats.
Here's the recipe adapted from Alton Brown.
Prep Time: 5 min | Serves: 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
2 ounces 100 Percent Agave Silver/Blanco Tequila , divided (I used the Milagro brand tequila, and it tasted wonderful)
1 Tbsp Kosher Salt
4 Limes , divided
½ small Hamlin Or Valencia Orange
2 Tbsp Light Agave Nectar
¾ cup Ice Cubes , about 3 to 4
Directions:
1. Pour ½-ounce of the tequila into a small saucer. Spread the kosher salt in a separate small saucer. Dip the rim of a martini or other wide rimmed glass into the tequila. Lift out of the tequila and hold upside down for 10 seconds to allow for slight evaporation. Next, dip the glass into the salt to coat the rim. Set aside.
2. Halve 2 of the limes, cut a thin slice for garnish from 1, and set aside. Juice the halved limes into the bottom of a Boston-style cocktail shaker. Cut the remaining 2 limes and the orange into quarters and add them to the juice in the shaker. Add the agave nectar to and muddle for 2 minutes until the juices are release. Strain the juice mixture through a cocktail strainer into the top of the shaker and discard the solids.
3. Return the juice to the bottom of the shaker, add the remaining 1 ½ ounces of tequila and any remaining on the saucer. Add the ice to the shaker, cover and shake for 30 seconds. Strain the mixture through a cocktail strainer into the prepared glass, garnish with reserved lime slice, and serve immediately.
