Indie Subscription: Innocent+Twisted Alchemy April 2015 Review

I couldn't wait to swatch this month's Innocent+Twisted Alchemy subscription after seeing the colors we got! And I love that there were two exclusive bonus samples for the subscribers. I think everything could easily be used in a look together. I can't wait to try that out to see how it goes.

AboutInnocent+Twisted Alchemy is based in California, owned by Linda, and specializes in eyeshadow and blush. Many of their collections are inspired by anime, but they also have the "Live Or Die" collection which is inspired by the Saw films. IT+A also has a monthly subscription, that comes in sample or full size form.

I'll admit, I don't think I've ever recognized one of the themes for this sub except vaguely hearing of the video game last month's was themed after. Of course, I have heard of Sailor Moon, but it was never my thing. But the art is always great so I can't complain. And I do like that Linda doesn't do more recognizable themes just because they're popular, she does themes that she's interested in.

Shipping - This month my subscription arrived in 2 days via USPS from within California. The info card does note that the turnaround time starting next month will switch to 14-18 business days, which I'm not thrilled about. But if it means that we will get more and better bonuses then it's fine. And next month one of my other indie subs will be arriving much earlier so I can just shuffle everything around to accommodate both of those changes.

Product SizeI subscribe to the mini subscription, so my eyeshadows are minis.

Free Samples - There were four free samples with this month's subscription, two of which were exclusive to the sub.

All eyeshadow swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. The highlighter is done over bare skin and blended out.

Like usual, the info card. Sample size subscribers always receive a 30% off coupon code for the shop, and full size subscribers receive a 35% off code.

Berry Bomb -

This shade is kind of a purple/red/copper color with lots of blue and yellow sparks. I don't know if I mention this much, but of all the indie shadows I've tried, Innocent+Twisted Alchemy is the company that consistently has unblended pigment in the shadows. If you have no idea what that is or what it looks like, when I go to swatch them, you can clearly see bits of red and blue within the color itself. When you blend it, it goes away, and is blended in with the rest of the color. I don't mind it much because it does go away when blended, but is something to note. And for sample jars, mine are always filled right up to the top, which is awesome. In my look I have pictured in my head, this would be the outer corner and crease shade.

Green Grenade -

This shade is a bright green with a slight sheen. I like the bright pop of color to go along with the other shades in this month's box. If I were pairing everything together in a look, including the bonus samples, I'd use this as a bottom lash liner to add a pop of spring color.

Moonlight Stalker -

This is a brand new kind of product to Innocent+Twisted Alchemy, and it's an Angelic Powder. The info card states that it can be used all over very sheerly for an all over glow, or used more liberally as a highlighter. You can really only see this under direct light, so I think it would be perfect for either application. I absolutely can't wait to try this, I've always been interested in something like an Hourglass powder, but never wanted to shell out the money for it. I'm hoping this will give a similar look. I'd use this all over the face for my look, and also as a brow highlight.

Baroque Cosmetics Radiant Garden - "A pink with a soft violet sheen."

This is a permanent shade from Baroque Cosmetics. I already have some of their other products and have really been enjoying them, so I can't wait to experiment with this shade. I think it would make a perfect inner corner highlight, or center of the lid highlight if you were using it in a look.

Esoteric Aesthetic Magica -

This shade is exclusive to the subscription. I've tried one or two products from Esoteric Aesthetic before, but this one is right up my alley. I've really been rediscovering neutrals lately, and this would make a perfect all over lid color, or I'm thinking it would make a good transition shade in my hypothetical look I'm imagining.

Ten Three Labs Madness - "Blackest purple with crimson and violet sparks, mixed with holographic and shifty blue glitter."

This shadow from Ten Three Labs was March's Color of the Month, and is still available to purchase. This is my first time trying a shadow from this company, and I can't say I am impressed by yet another black base shadow, but I am impressed by all that glitter. There was a ton of holographic glitter in this shade, and some bigger blue sparks. For a look, I would use this as a top lash liner, and maybe after it almost dries, I would pick up a bit more of the glitter to go over the top. I find when I foil shadows for liners, it's hard to see the glitter as most of the base color is what comes through.

Tilt/Shift Cosmetics Innocent+Twisted Alchemy Exclusive Shade -

This is the other exclusive shade to this month's sub, and I love this color. It's like a muted rose gold color with tons of gold sparkles. It didn't seem like there was very much in the bag though, which was kind of a bummer. I've been hankering to try more from Tilt/Shift Cosmetics but it seems like they are always closed recently, and I have no idea what happened to the lip products they used to carry. Maybe I just missed the update about those, but I do hope they come back. I would really love to make a purchase from them. In my look, I'd use this as the all over lid color. I'm also curious as to how this would look as a blush. Possibly too sparkly for my tastes, but it might be stunning.

Overall, I absolutely loved everything in this month's subscription I can't get enough pinks, purples, and neutrals in my life lately. And I'm so excited to try to create a look using everything we received; it will be a fun challenge! I do hope in the future we get more of these Angelic Powders or possibly even a blush, I tend to really enjoy the indie subscriptions where you get everything to create an entire look. This very well might be my absolute favorite Innocent+Twisted Alchemy subscription I've received, and my favorites were Berry Bomb, Moonlight Stalker, and the Tilt/Shift exclusive unnamed shade. Just those three together would create a beautiful look!

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my subscription.

AvailabilityThis subscription goes up around the 1st of the month to subscribe, so just check the Facebook page for exactly when that happens.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorites were Berry Bomb, Moonlight Stalker, and the Tilt/Shift exclusive unnamed shade. This is definitely my favorite Innocent+Twisted Alchemy sub to date, I can't wait to see what we get next month.
