Indie Weekends: Aromaleigh Anthousai Collection Review

When I first saw the Aromaleigh Anthousai Collection, I imagined it would be a great collection for me because most of the colors are shades I tend to gravitate towards. Especially lately, I love neutrals, muted pastels, pinks, purples, and of course anything that is the color of a metal. And this collection has a little of everything!

AboutAromaleigh opened back in 1998, and was one of the first indie cosmetic companies to be started. Kristen is the owner, and is based in South Carolina. They offer a few fandom related collections, including Hannibal, Sherlock, and the Hunger Games, but most of their collections are historically and mythologically inspired. The monthly Ephemera subscription began January 2015.

Shipping - My order shipped 5 days after I placed it, and arrived 2 days later via USPS from South Carolina to California.

Product Size - This collection and each shade separately are available in sample size, mini jars, or full size jars. I have the mini jars here.

Free Samples - I received 4 free samples with my order.

All swatches are done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer.

Anemone - "A muted red with a strong green to gold shift."

This is a coppery red shade, with a bit of a sheen. Definitely one of my favorite shades of the collection, I would wear this any which way.

Ianthe - "A lustrous violet with a strong silvery green shift."

This is kind of a soft lavender with a greenish shift. A very pretty pastel, that I think would look great paired with just about any other shade in this collection.

Khloris - "A lustrous mint green with a golden glow."

I love green as a color, but rarely wear it as an eyeshadow. I really should wear it more, especially if I pair it with other colors so it's not the main event. This one is a soft pastel green with a bit of a gold sheen.

Klytie - "A lustrous blue violet with golden and copper shift."

This is kind of a bluish grayish shade, with a bit of a sheen. I am tempted to pair this with Leiriope just to see how that blue/yellow combo is.

Leiriope - "A lustrous yellow gold with a green to aqua shift."

This is a yellow gold with more emphasis on yellow than gold. I barely ever wear yellow shades, but I am interested in seeing how this looks on.

Lotis - "A lustrous peachy pink."

This is a soft coral-y pink with a red sheen. This shade is just beautiful, I love these sorts of colors. I want to wear it with Anemone.

Philyra - "A soft buff shade with strong yellowish green duochrome."

On, this shade is much lighter than it looks in the jar. I think it would make a great inner corner highlight or brow highlight shade.

Phyllis - "A pale creamy yellow with a strong copper to rose shift."

To me, this just looks like a lighter version of Leiriope, and would probably also make a good highlight shade.

Rhodeia - "A lustrous rose with blue and violet tones."

This shade is a bright pink with a bit of a reddish/purple sheen. I'd love to see this paired with Lotis.

Syrinx - "A gorgeous, chromatic brown with gold and green shifts."

This is a brown with a strong golden shift. It's another shade that I think would look nice in the outer corner or crease paired with any other shade in this collection.

Overall, I like this collection, and the new Aromaleigh formula is quite nice. It makes it so you barely need any product to be completely opaque. Frequently when swatching, I used too much, it takes some time to get used to! And the formula is supposed to be better over bare skin. I always use a primer, so that's what I always swatch over, but if you run out or you just don't use primer, the new formula is supposed to work nicely without primer as well. I think my favorite shades are Anemone and Lotis. But I can see myself using all of these shades, they are fairly muted and less intimidating than other really bright shades. I don't think this collection is absolutely necessary for everyone's collections, but I think it makes a nice addition to mine.

Customer Service - I did not have to contact customer service regarding any problems with my order.

Availability - This collection is permanent and is available all year round.

Overall Satisfaction - My favorite shades are Anemone and Lotis. While this collection may not be necessary for everyone, it is very pretty and I know I will be getting a lot of use out of it.
